Limerick Senior Hurling 2018.

It does look like Michael Ryan is keeping some big guns for 20min to go. Could be a smart move as Limerick are strong finishers as was shown against Galway, Clare. & Tipp.

Regarding Mulcahy, I did hear he is in great form. Plus he will bring that bit of experience to the forwards. All other 5 are very young. He is accurate and does have more of an eye for goals at this level.

JK has been very fair to the guys that pulled him through the League. So it's up to the to lads now to stand up and show what they can do. Can't wait - pity about the rain but I think a slog in the rain will suit us more than tipp.
Come on Limerick

BIG gamble by michael ryan."
B Maher is carrying a knock and mustn't be 100% yet. I'm surprised about breen not in midfield. he destroyed us 2 years ago and I've heard a view Tipp voices saying their midfield are average club hurlers at best!

Also, I don't like to be the one to bring something negative up but I've heard of a tweet from a nap player criticising the team selection and nap limerick panelists liking it as well as official nap page. If there is any rumblings I hope John and the lads get them alone in a room and have a good chat and clear the air and not let anything get out of hand in the background.

Wasn't v optimistic given our own selection anomalies but I'd be much more optimistic having seen their team. Really cannot understand Colin Ryan's omission. For me he should be starting."
Colin Ryan got his chance and was off at half time. He is young and will make it in the future. Mulcahy has improved and regained his sharpness under current management and experience was needed in a very young forward line. O Donovan was a starter until he got injured and all others deserve their starting place based on form up to now. The team will evolve as the weeks go by but as of now our best team is starting and i am fully behind them. We would need to be in front going in to the last quarter as Tipp have a few serious subs.

It's very easy to go on the Nap Twitter page and see that that didn't happen

I can't understand the problem Nap have regarding no one starting. The lads there have done a great job and have made it hard for anyone to take their place.
I had a feeling they could cause chaos if It came to this situation.Although I admire Nap as a club and have followed them through there success I feel maybe some need to realise there's a bit more to Limerick hurling than just 1 club.I have faith in J K and Co.I also believe that each team that goes out through Championship will be the best Limerick team available. They are all part of 1 team now.

Good team n bench I tink, Condon, Colin Ryan, Downes and Nash all carrying knocks, all 4 should be back in contention for Cork or W'ford ģames, anybody with any sort of niggle will not be considered due to the intense structure of this Championship format,

Why do people spread rumours like that? Some people only want to hear bad news.

No Nash or Downes on bench. injuries?"
Agree with your thinking, but maybe niggling injuries a factor, with those you mentioned not on panel, or maybe just just thinking ahead re long hard struggle over next 5 weeks... ...in Kiely we we trust..

One of the worries that I heard expressed about John Kiely over a year ago is as to whether he was ruthless enough for the job. Well I think he answered that one last night.

One of the first conclusions from reviewing the championship squad was that some good players were going to have very difficult conversations after the championship team (and subs) were picked because of the size, age and depth of the squad. I think the hardest job of all for Kiely is to have those conversations, to have the affected players accept those decisions and to understand what they need to do to make him change those decisions for the next match. I'm very surprised that Nash, Ryan and Downes are not even in the squad and I just hope that's not going to cause a problem.

I genuinely believe that a lot of these calls are very close and that this team will evolve very significantly over the course of the next 4 games. Also the guys on the bench who believe that they should start need to be patient and seize their opportunity when it comes.

The one kind of surprise to me on the starting XV is Mul who needs to have a big game to stay there.

I'm really surprised with the Tipp team. I expected that Callinan would not start because he cannot be match fit but they seem to have gone with a completely new backline. Brendan Maher to my mind is a quality player and I'm shocked that he's not starting. The other thing I cannot figure out is why aren't they playing Michael Breen at their starting full back because they know they have a problem there, He was brilliant against us in the 2015 U21.

The key tomorrow for Limerick is the conversion rate of chances to scores and will Hickey survive at full back. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see all 4 NaP players finish the game tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a great result as at this stage, I have no idea as to who will win.

I like what you are saying and hope your are correct.
Also blv negative cheap shots and vibes being floated about Na Piarsaigh players is cheap fireside gossip and hope its abandoned immediately on eve of first round of our best championship team in (at least) recent memory and maybe much longer. NaP have and will be a powerful force in Limerick and Club and County hurling going forward.

Long may that continue! ( An No .....I am miles from Na Piarsaigh)

Let's leave Granny at the fireplace and Let's all be united as Boys in Green tomorrow and for the next 5 weeks.

5 20 man games coming up....hope we can be fit and healthy for all.

Come On Ye boys in Green!

Tipperary have shown a certain degree of disrespect towards Limerick by picking the team they have. I can only conclude that Michael Ryan thinks the team he picked are good enough to stay with Limerick for 50 mins and then he can finish with his strongest 15. It's shows distain really. Back when Limerick beat Tipp 2 years in a row he was in no way complimentary of Limerick. It was all ' Tipp didn't play well' stuff. I hope Limerick use this and take them to the cleaners.

I was wondering does anyone know what's up with Downes and Nash.
Are they injured?
On the game I feel Hayes will play centre field with O'Donovan moving to centre forward. It is a hard one to call as you really can't judge either team and a lot of questions will be answered tomorrow.
Anyone having a flutter tomorrow might do worse than having a 5euro bet at 16/1
on the Cork and Clare game to be goalless.

Best of luck to both teams tomorrow. 'The old grey leaves Carlow at a quarter past nine in the morning' to paraphrase a line from 'The shades of New Direen'.

Hayes will be centre forward. Hayes and Hegerty will have the task of roughing up the Maher brothers tomorrow and win dirty ball.

I like that. Goes without saying ...good men under the puckout! Looking forward to great tussles all over the field and in in particular to tussle between out half forwards Tipp half backs!
