I think Jack you put your finger on it. IF they go to all the league games. At most there was 1500 Limerick people in Salthill at a vitally important game. Now apparently we have 10 or 12000 claiming to have been at all our league games. Im not looking for a row just simply have heard enough of it now. The stats are there for all to see. At the very outside there are 2000 who attend 60% of league games. Can we please just get back to discussing the hurling

There are plenty of supporters out there who only follow limerick but cant be bothered going to support their local club. Greenmen73 (Limerick) - Posts: 27 - 13/08/2018 18:33:34 2132873 Link 0 |
Is supporting a club a requirement to supporting your county?

It should be. Ya

Supporting your club definitely should be a prerequisite to getting an All Ireland ticket. That's why it is.

Your club/parish always comes first. First before county and to pay membership in your club is critical. brud (Limerick) - Posts: 943 - 13/08/2018 20:43:54 2132925 Link 3 |
Why?

I don't support my club as I have little interest in doing so and I don't live in my hometown anymore. I live in a different county for work. I train my school's team. I help train my local underage teams. I attend every match I can where a Limerick club is playing. And I attend most Limerick matches all year. I have my ticket for the final but this whole superiority some people have around supporting their club is infuriating. I understand that for a lot of people their club is everything and I completely understand that. That is not the case for me, yet a lot of people would use that against the likes of me. Anyway you would be hard pushed to find someone who is more passionate about hurling and loves limerick hurling more than I do. I will be there on Sunday screaming my lungs out for my county and win, lose or draw I will be a proud Limerick man and looking forward to the future of Limerick hurling.

Good for u. So u do get involved in your local club where u work. That's what it's all about . I'm talking about people I know who arrive on once limerick reach a semi final and would be hard pushed to know what club the players r from.

The support for our match vs Tipperary in the league semi final in thurles was also terrible. In extra time they needed a bit of support and it wasn't there. Remember Munster playing a big rugby match the same day explained why I suppose. brud (Limerick) - Posts: 943 - 13/08/2018 21:19:25 2132944 Link 0 |
Do you have the team that played Cork at PUC in the championship.? I have that program somewhere. I remember that Flynn chap from Kerry who played with Ahane was keeper and had a fine game. Nicky was wing back/midfield. Think Bryan O'Sullivan of Kilmallock was at 6. Browne at midfield. Herlihy from the West got a very early red card, but the team gave their all and done ok. hamstring (Limerick) - Posts: 318 - 13/08/2018 22:16:44 2132979 Link 0 |

Will have a look for it. I have 5 of 6 programs for the league that season. Its interesting to see. The red card your talking about was for a strike on Sean og O'halpin. I think midfield that day was Tom o brien and Andrew Brennan. Paul Brown was put man marking Ben o Connor at half back which he done a great job of. Our starting forward line I think but not 100% was Sean herlihy, Alan o Connor, James o Brien, Graeme Mulcahy, Paudie McNamara, Richie Mckeogh. I'm nearly certain David Breen was fullback Nicky Quaid was half back. Those were tough days supporting Limerick. All the more reason to enjoy Sunday. brud (Limerick) - Posts: 943 - 14/08/2018 00:00:50 2133018 Link 0 |
Agree with that 100%

I remember a large Limerick banner that day in the blackrock ending thanking the county board for setting us back 10 years.

Remember being well impressed with Kieran O Rourke that day - wondered why we never heard that much of him after, thought he should have been seen more

I was at that semi-final and there was a good limerick crowd at it.

what a pity the ticket situation is so bloody dire.it is five days out and im still in a position where i dont know if im traveling or not.the demand is crazy.the last appearance in 2007 there was no problem.i have contacted relatives all over the country and outside and nothing doing.i feel sorry for clubs trying to keep everyone happy but no matter what they do,officers are going to make a lot of enemies.its like people are now begging which isnt right or maybe im a complete fool.i think this team also are responsible for the huge interest, with their never say die attitude and the fact that all are so grounded.still hoping but looks like rte for me and several others. Interesting debates and viewpoints on everything from player selection to ticket availability and volunteerism in the GAA. Agree that season ticket is way to go however with modern technology and apps I cant see how my Iphone Wallet cant be used as proof that I was at games and given easier access to tickets. Christ I even endured Buff in Mallow on New years eve v Cork this year. I'm one of the lucky ones to have a ticket for Sunday so bring it on. I also wanted to acknowledge and thank Kiely and team for a great year following Limerick. I don't believe there is any better feeling in sport than watching your county team beat the likes of Tipp, Waterford, Kilkenny and Cork. It has been a fantastic sporting year and whilst I think we can win on Sunday, It will need a lot of breaks to go our way but here's hoping. One last lash lads and 45 years of pain will be erased.
