"posters on the bandwagon" there seems to be a thought that just because someone has recently joined the forum that they have just started supporting Limerick hurling. I can assure you and anyone else, in my case and I'm sure in others that this is simply not true. I have suffered through plenty of defeats for this not to be insulting. I could have written a million posts on this and not attend a single game.

if i hadnt as ticket got before heading to dublin i'd be very worried.......after the hurling year we've had everyone is on a high and wants to go.....tickets won't be got. and like last year ( i go to the hurling final every year) there wasnt a ticket to be got last year in dublin the morning of the match i saw loads of supporters last year very very dissapointed that morning.... when you have either tipp or kilkenny involved its a big help. but they werent there last year or this year.

Thanks Welpasit for your kind words. I will probably be ok, but of course the Croke Park is out of the frame due to the barriers. Oldtourman (Limerick) - Posts: 4490 - 11/08/2018 15:01:22 2131756 Link 0 |
The ticket situation is a joke . My son and I have been to every Limerick game this year and even league games and we are not the only supporters in this situation and here we are with not a ticket to be got and going around begging Tom , dick and Harry for tickets . All the corporate sector will have tickets though who haven't attended a match all year but want to Bragg to whoever will listen to them that they were in croker for the final . They will have the best seats in the house and spend the day on their phone not even watching the match . Can the gaa not put a system in place to help genuine supporters get their hands on tickets . Keep your ticket stubs or match programmes and present these at the Gaelic grounds to prove you attended matches and have first refusal to 2 tickets or something along these lines . Surely something could be sorted . These lads flying in for the final who haven't followed the team or attended a game all year and get tickets isn't on either but this goes on and we can't do anything about it but I for one am disgusted the way tickets are distributed for the final but when all the huha of the all ire is over my son and I will still be travelling the country next winter supporting limerick . In the meantime like many of you on here i will continue to beg lads that might know somebody that is related to someone else whose cousin knows someone that is a priest or a county councillor or school principal that might just have got tickets they didn't even ask for and hopefully might get lucky to get a ticket for the game but I won't hold my breath.... Anyway hope we can go on and win it whether I am in croker or not I will be one happy man.. Luimneach Abu

Probably best off getting a season ticket if you go to all the games. Can see Limerick being around for a few more years so be money well spent.

Agreed on this. Following Limerick with the season ticket for the last few years. This year, got great seats for the semi final in Croke Park and for Munster game in PUC. For Munster games in Gaelic Grounds, pretty good seats in open stand. Only place that I had a problem with it was Cusack Park but same applied to Clara season ticket holders there. In terms of money it works out at about the same as if you bought individual tickets in advance online but the real benefit comes for the All Ireland where if you have gone to 60% of matches you are guaranteed a ticket. Season Ticket holders seem to be grouped together for matches where reserved seating is in place so you see the same faces as well. Reflecting on that, I would be surprised if there is more than 500/600 season ticket holders in the county, but might be more. ancientrush (Limerick) - Posts: 24 - 11/08/2018 17:41:08 2131806 Link 1 |
well i know parents that have been to all the matches this year with 2 and 3 of their kids but havnt a hope of getting tickets for the final.....your best bet is buy a season ticket...if automatically gives you an opportunity to but a ticket for the all ireland final.

If you are a club member you stand a very good chance of getting a ticket. Mads you are very welcome to this forum. I have been following Limerick for nearly 40 years. However, when i joined I got a few comments querying why I had an opinion. I have since learned that that particular person posts a lot of rubish. Priority for tickets is given to club officials and volunteers. That is as it should be. Unfortunately then next comes sponsors. That just a commercial reality. Any body who doesn't understand that doesn't know what's involved in running a club or a county board Season ticket holders are also looked after. Interestingly I have a season ticket for club games but don't believe that entitles me to a ticket for All Ireland Anybody who is not a volunteer a sponsor or a season ticket holder will then just have to work their socks off. That's as it has always been. As for the corporate element of Croke Park that too is a necessity. Anybody who understands the commercial reality of running any stadium or sporting organisation will know that all stadiums everywhere in the world have a corporate element to them through sheer necessity. I wonder when I hear about all these loyal fans who go without. Can there be more than 1000 fans who have been to almost all league games? I go to most so I doubt it. Most of them are heavily involved with clubs. I'd say no more than a handful of genuine GAA people risk not getting a ticket. That's too many granted but not as many as is suggested on here. I agree, especially with Limerick in Division 1A I will be going to even more county games, so applying for one is a top priority.

I have to agree with you someday about Canning and where ever he goes he is still the main man for Galway. If he plays well Galway usually win whereas if he is out of the game and involved in pulling and dragging and messing off the ball with his marker Galway aren't the same team. Lol at the 2 draws Galway had this year and he wasn't very impressive but in both replays he stood up an took leadership roles. Last week against Clare in Thurles he was Galway leader and scoregetter in the last 20 minutes when Clare looked like winning. I don't see them playing him ff for any great length of time but he will drift around the forward line and he will need a lot of watching as I think he is without a doubt the best hurler around- at critical times he will get a score or make a pass that nobody else can see or do even if the team around him aren't playing well. I think he was the biggest reason Galway won last year as he just played hurling and didn't get involved in any silly stuff or personal vendettas on the field but this year he has slipped back to his old ways a bit and has got distracted from the game- let's hope that's the Joe we see next Sunday

Now that the football semi finals are over we can concentrate on the hurling final. Travelling abroad with Work for the week so will need to be over dosed with online stuff. Seeking_silver (Limerick) - Posts: 411 - 12/08/2018 19:14:23 2132368 Link 0 |

Looking through old Gaa match programs earlier and up popped Limerick v Galway in the league in 2010 in Kilmallock. Remember the match well with Nicky Quaid and Paul Brown midfield. It was the year of the strike. We have come on along way since then. Really looking forward to next Sunday. brud (Limerick) - Posts: 943 - 12/08/2018 22:51:48 2132469 Link 0 |
Lads if you go to Limerick matches in the league and championship you're crazy to not buy a season ticket. They're not expensive and it guarantees you a final ticket if you attend 60% of matches. Easily done. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 13/08/2018 10:21:01 2132575 Link 0 |
