Well done kildare for not letting the heads drop when they conceded the goals . Some lovely points and a big improvement since the league galwayfball (Galway) - Posts: 1704 - 16/07/2017 16:38:58 2017490 Link 0 |
Scary stuff. If we're that bad not much hope for Meath of Laois. Some atmosphere. If we can get to within 2-3 with 10 15 minutes to go then who knows.

The only thing more ridiculous than the Black card to Dean Rock was the free and yellow card to the Kildare defender for a perfect shoulder hit Exactly the same as the 1 the Dublin defender dished out and was legal to the ref All we ask is consistency from the Black card to advantage rule That's all cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 524 - 16/07/2017 16:43:16 2017494 Link 0 |
The fair shoulder being reffed out of the game as usual. Kildare number 5 very harshly treated for a perfect shoulder. Physicality going from Football...all it is now is running bloodyban (Limerick) - Posts: 1710 - 16/07/2017 16:45:03 2017495 Link 0 |

A lot to build on for Kildare, Dubs look so much hungrier than last year. Decent game overall. catchturnscore (Longford) - Posts: 151 - 16/07/2017 17:42:28 2017519 Link 1 |
Why haven't a team put a player in front of Cluxton on kickouts. Block is eyeline an make him kick higher and not as flat. Kildare defence not at Division 1 level but plenty of promise. The Dublin Hurling Chairman, would he mind if Dublin play the quarter final in Semple stadium.....That is big enough to hold the Dublin season ticket holders. #potandkettle HawkEyed (Donegal) - Posts: 61 - 16/07/2017 17:42:43 2017520 Link 0 |
A deserved win for Dublin, their spurt in the first 15 minutes was the difference in the end as well as some poor handling and a lot of bad shot selection by Kildare. Ref wasn't great by all accounts, with two perfect shoulders by Kildare being blown as fouls, as well as not playing advantage for a Dublin goal that should have stood, just a few standout decisions that were incorrect. Well done to Dublin though, they won it while still playing within themselves. RoscoMan (Roscommon) - Posts: 80 - 16/07/2017 17:43:29 2017523 Link 1 |

Teams don't put a player in front of Cluxton because if they do the full back or corner back just moves 10m away from him and he gives them the ball and they start the attack . Also the hurling board couldn't care if the footballer's play in Donegal it's a different code. dubshurling7 (Dublin) - Posts: 1017 - 16/07/2017 17:54:56 2017534 Link 0 |
Kildare are likely a slightly worse version of meath 2013 when we ran the dubs closer and lost by 7 in the end. The same thing is going to happen. Kildare will think they can improve and beat them in the next 2 years. But Dublin will dispose of you no problem again and again until they finally break the spirit in your team and they'll go back to hammering you by 15+ in a few years. The likes of meath and Kildare can possibly beat Dublin in 15+ years but the gaa need to start investing millions yearly into their underage starting now. Otherwise it will remain pros vs amateurs. This is what happens when you invest the most into the biggest county with the most resources. Jack_Goff (Meath) - Posts: 2920 - 16/07/2017 18:05:43 2017538 Link 3 |
Love the Dubs and their followers and the way they play football, but when Kildare are being lauded but coming within 9 ps it shows how unequal the contest has become. Time for junior, intermediate? It works well in club football and ladies football at both county + club level. Or Split Dublin into north/south/east/west? Imagine the intensity of the local derbies!!!!! befair (Down) - Posts: 238 - 16/07/2017 18:08:51 2017542 Link 2 |

Defensively ragged Dublin display. far too many times kildare just sliced through us. needs waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13654 - 16/07/2017 18:30:39 2017559 Link 0 |
The reason teams don't do it is two fold opposing players have to be 13ms from ball and also the rules about players inside the 20 metre line. Can you imagine the type of game we would have if teams could do as you suggest.

You have to hand it Dublin, they are still class operators, they beat Kildare and done so quite easily despite RTE attempting to tell us otherwise. Speaking of which, nothing against Kildare or their management but the praise they were getting towards the end of the game was very patronizing, if Meath were in the same position I would have been furious.
