One game in Allianz Football League

March 01, 2011
The London v Longford Division 4 game is the only action in the Allianz Football League next weekend. They will meet in Ruislip (Saturday, 1.30) in a game which has been brought forward from Round 6.

Longford are making a bold bid for promotion, having taken five points from three game so far, leaving them a point behind leaders Wicklow with a game in hand. London, whose game against Leitrim was called off last weekend because of bad weather, have won one of three games.

Meanwhile the following are the headlines from all the Divisions as the Allianz Football League head towards the half-way point. The next full round of games will be played on the weekend after next.

Division 1: Dublin have won their first three games for a second successive year and lead the group on six points. Down are the only other unbeaten team in the group but dropped a point against Mayo. Galway have lost all three games. Kerry are on two points, same as last year at the same stage. Monaghan are also on two points, same as last year. Cork are two points worse off than at the same stage last year. Mayo are one point worse off. Armagh, who were promoted this year, are second last on the table on two points but trail Kerry and Monaghan on scoring difference only.

Division 2: Laois are the only county on full points after three rounds. It's a good campaign for new managers with Justin McNulty (Laois), Jim McGuinness (Donegal) and John Brennan (Derry) in charge of the three leading teams. Meath are on two points from three games, two worse off than at the same stage last year. Antrim (2pts) and Sligo (1pt), the two sides who came up from Division 3 this year, are bottom of the table.

Division 3: Louth are setting the pace with three wins from three games. Wexford and Offaly are tucked in behind them on four points each. Westmeath won their first League game in seventeen attempts when they beat Tipperary by three points last Sunday. Limerick and Waterford, the two sides who came up from Division 4 this year, fill the bottom two positions.

Division 4: Wicklow, Longford and Roscommon are the only unbeaten teams. Longford will top the group if they beat London next Sunday. Kilkenny have conceded 12-75 in four games.
