'We can't get carried away like Liverpool did'

Ger Brennan has warned that Dublin will end up like Liverpool if they start believing in their own hype.

Steven Gerrard and co. missed out on the Premier League title last month just when many of their supporters thought it was in the bag, and Brennan doesn't want the same fate to befall the Dubs, who are odds-on favourites to retain the Sam Maguire.

"As a player, to allow yourself to think like that (being favourites) means you will get a kick in the you know where," the fit-again Dublin centre back tells the Irish Independent.

"Maybe supporters are going to get carried away - just look at Liverpool. One of my brothers and a cousin had flights booked to go over for the final weekend and cancelled them. They were getting carried away, but the lesson as a player is that you can't think like that.

"Everyone else can talk about it - we can't control that."
