Dublin SFC: Jude's shock Plunkett's in replay

September 24, 2009
Templeogue side St. Jude's staged a late rally to dump last year's beaten finalists St. Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh out of the Dublin SFC last night. St. Jude's0-13 St. Oliver Plunkett's...0-10 Plunkett's were strongly fancied to win this quarter-final replay at Parnell Park, but were left to rue a tally of 13 wides. Their poor finishing means that no team from north of the Liffey will be represented in the last four, with St. Jude's progressing to a semi-final date with St. Mary's, Saggart on October 1. Reigning All-Ireland champions Kilmacud Crokes will meet Ballyboden St. Enda's in the other penultimate round tie. Despite scores from the Brogan brothers, Alan and Bernard, Plunkett's trailed by 0-3 to 0-7 at the interval with Kevin McManamon slotting over a brace of points late in the first half for the winners. Four unanswered points had the Navan Road side level by the 43rd minute before McManamon immediately restored St. Jude's lead. The sides were tied on two more occasions after that, but Jude's took over in the last five minutes with two further points from the impressive McManamon seeing them home.
