Kilmacud Crokes bounced back from their opening round defeat to earn their first win in this year’s Dublin senior hurling championship by seeing off Whitehall Colmcille on Saturday.
It finished 2-25 to 2-15 at Parnell Park, where Oisin O’Rorke led the way for the holders with 0-11 over the hour with their second-half performance blowing Whitehall away in the end.
A pair of Eoghan O’Donnell goals had saw Whitehall leading by 2-8 to 0-12 at the halfway stage and their lead would be extended by an Eddie Moran free early in the restart.
However, the Stillorgan outfit soon got motoring again through Dara Purcell’s well-taken goal and another from substitute Sean Purcell would have them in command.
Points from Dara Purcell, Brendan Scanlan, Colin Crehan and O’Rorke increased the Crokes’ lead and the latter would add his 11th point late on to ensure the double figures win for his side.
Elsewhere in the capital, there were wins for Ballyboden St Enda’s, Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna in the senior hurling championship race today (see the results below).
