The start of Dublin's 16-point Walsh Cup final victory over Wexford this evening was delayed in the most bizarre of circumstances.

Played as the curtain-raiser to the Allianz football league Division 1 clash between Armagh and Dublin, referee Patrick Murphy was ready to throw-in the sliotar when it came to his attention that there were no umpire's green and white flags at either end of the field.

When play eventually got underway, Dublin proved too good for Darragh Egan's Wexford - winning out by 2-29 to 0-19 in the end.

Mattie Kenny's side had one hand on the silverware at half-time, when they led by 2-14 to 0-9 after goals from Fergal Whitely and Ronan Hayes.
