Jody Gormley stars in Bredagh championship success
October 27, 2006
The long wait for championship success for the Bredagh club has ended. They bridged a 35 year gap when they overcame a fancied Teconnaught side in the JFC final replay - winning the decider on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-5.
The 'man of the match' for the winning side was former Down county senior team-trainer and ex-Tyrone county player, Jody Gormley who turned in a tremendous display in the midfield sector for the Bredagh side. Incidentally the same Gormley is expected to be announced as the new Antrim senior team-manager in the coming days.
The Bredagh club will celebrate to-morrow night (Saturday) 28th of October with their annual awards dinner in the Wellington Park Hotel, Belfast where the Ulster Club Hurling League (Division 3) trophy will also be on display at the top table.
