Well done to Orlaith O'Rourke, winner, and Cerys Clarke, runner-up, at the U16 Down Poc Fada on Saturday.
The U14 Footballers won by the minimum in Longstone 3-5 to 1-10.
In the Senior Camogie league An Riocht beat Longstone 1-10 to 1-2. Though a comprehensive victory that never looked in doubt, An Riocht will know that better opposition would have scored more given chances created and that while our return from scoring opportunities was higher than last week there is still room for improvement from play and from placed balls which will be required before the season is out. An Riocht dominated throughout and led eight nil going into added time at the end of the first half when Longstone plundered a goal with the last puck of the half. Scores were harder come by on the restart and An Riocht struck for their own goal when Tiarna Rooney chased down an Aine Fearon pass and fired to the Longstone net in the fortieth minute. Team J Sloan, Clara Killen, L Rodgers, N Cunningham, A O'Reilly, N Kelly, M Trainor, N Fearon 0-1, O McAlinden 0-1, A Fearon 0-3 (2f, 45), C Fearon, M Higgins, A McDowell 0-1, T Rooney 1-1, Carrie Killen 0-3.
The U16 Camogs scored a great victory at fancied Shamrocks on Tuesday; trailing by five at the break, An Riocht upped their game on the restart and won a high scoring affair by nine, 7-9 to 6-3.
The Junior Camogs went top of the table with a win over visiting Aghaderg. Both teams did ever so well in difficult foggy conditions with all players deserving of praise for their efforts. Tara Keenan and Sarah Rodgers, before going off injured, were rock steady at the back and Caitlin Quinn kept to that level when introduced; the minor midfield of Patrice Matthews and Sophie Bowater dominated and gave good ball forward where Ciarrai Connor and Tiarna Donnan (first half) and Charlene White and Lauren Clarke (second half) excelled. Team: Andrea O'Neill, Caoimhe McAlinden, Tara Keenan, Lauren Clarke 1-9, Sarah Rodgers, Patrice Matthews, Sophie Bowater 0-2, Tiarna Donnan 3-4, Hayley McDowell 2-0, Ciarrai Connor 2-3, Charlene White 3-5. Subs: Eve Doran, Emma Cousins, Caoimhe Leigh Spiers, Caitlin Quinn, Clare Fearon.
An Riocht had 3 teams at the Juvenile Camogie Blitz in Darragh Cross; thanks to the team mentors who gave their Saturday to take the girls and it was encouraging to see so many parents travelling also.
In the Senior Football in Castlewellan, An Riocht scored 1-17 but still lost by three goals. Castlewellan's sevens style football opened us up too easily, too often, as lazy forward play allowed them build from the back. They created a man over through short kick-outs and drew us onto them until they ended up with a man free inside our full back line creating the chances to score more than the four goals they finished with. In possession, it was more 'give and stop' rather than 'give and go' as the sweltering heat played its part in a lethargic display. Team: Stephen Doran, Liam Rodgers, John O'Rourke, Aidan Sloan, Sean Clarke 0-1, Paul Allen, James Cunningham 1-0, James Colgan, Kory Colgan, Conor Cole 0-1, Noel McArdle 0-7 (4f), Deaglan Morgan 0-2, Rory Cunningham 0-1, Patrick Gartland 0-2, Adam White 0-3. Subs: Christopher Mulligan, Conor McVeigh, Ryan Clarke, Ryan Spiers
At the P5/P6 Football Mourne League in Longstone, An Riocht had two teams and played round robin fixtures with the hosts and with Atticall giving each child three matches.
The P3/P4 Footballers entertained Longstone at Dunavil on Thursday evening. Team: Niall Barker, Josh Colgan, Jake Collins, James Cunningham, Aaron Curran, Tommy Eakins, JD Flanagan, Corey Greene, Karson Kearney, Brandon McComiskey, Dara McMillan, Kayden Sloan, Michael Spiers, Finlay Spiers, Niall Sloan, Eoghan Timms, Shaun Trainor, Shay Trainor. They have games on the next two three Saturdays also, our tournament, a South Down blitz and the Sarsfields tournament.

There will be a Camogie Foundation Award course on two Thursdays in June aimed at up-skilling current Juvenile Club Coaches and introducing fundamentals of coaching and helping with a team for newcomers or those not quite so confident.
The programme will consist of both educational, theory based elements alongside practical coaching aspects. This is the perfect opportunity for adult players, mummies and daddies, grandparents and others to get involved in promoting our games with (y)our young people - its only 2 evenings and its at Dunavil - what could be easier! Parents and family members have a very important role to play. We would encourage them to participate in club activities while their young people are playing our games. This will encourage them to keep coming back.
The Foundation Award is the introductory award for coaches. It is aimed at beginner coaches and will enable participants to assist a coach in the organisation of activities to develop camogie. The course covers 4 key modules: Introduction to Games / Skill Development / Movement Skills / Coaching Children. By the end of this course participants will be able to: assist a coach in organising a programme of games and skill development activities appropriate to each participant's needs and abilities; assist a coach in organising progressive activities, drills and fun games to develop key skills; assist a coach in organising progressive activities to develop movement skills; assist a coach in organising and managing players for an effective practice session
We are committed to implementing an integrated Coach Education Programme with a view to maximising participation, optimising playing standards and ensuring that players' needs are catered for in a balanced way. We need your help to do this!
The 'Kingdom Walkers' met last Wednesday at the club and begin their outings this Wednesday starting with a flat circuit at the Esplanade, they meet at 7.30pm at the sports centre. Plans for the annual Summer Scheme are at an advanced stage and there will be changes in the format here as well to freshen it up. Anyone interested in volunteering at night or during the summer scheme should speak to one of the youth support workers Lee, Jennifer or Aedin.
With the visit of Kilcoo on Friday in the Senior Football League we need car park stewards and gate people again; if you have not done your bit yet then contact Sean O'Rourke or add your name to the duty list at the office. Thanks.
