Carndonagh Clinch Kevin Lynch Electrical Under 12B Title
Carndonagh 5-06
Buncrana 2-07
Congratulations to the Carndonagh Under 12 B football side who picked up the first trophy of the season with an emphatic win over Buncrana on Monday night in Muff on a score of 5-06 to 2-07. Despite a stiff breeze it was a great evening for football and Buncrana opened the game brightly, firing over points from Michaela Mullan, Ricky Fagan and Gareth Porter.
Carndonagh's only score in the first half was a point by Aaron Hegarty midway through the half. Buncrana stretched their lead before the break with a goal and two points from their star player Michaela Porter and a point from Ricky Fagan.
The second half however belonged to the red and greens of Carndonagh, as they piled on relentless pressure on an overworked Buncrana defence. Corey Lafferty hit the first of Carn's goals and when Martin McLaughlin reduced the deficit to just two points with another goal a minute later, the writing was on the wall for the Buncrana boys. Points from Conor McCormick and Aaron Hegarty leveled the game and then Hegarty goaled again to give Carn the lead for the first time.
Points from McLaughlin and McCormick (2) gave Carndonagh a five point cushion before Ricky Fagan pulled a goal back for Buncrana. Man of the match Conor McCormick hit the net twice in the dying minutes for Carndonagh while Michaela Porter scored a late consolation point or Buncrana
Scorers Carnndonagh: Aaron Hegarty (1-02), Martin McLaughlin (1-01), Corey Lafferty (1-00), Conor McCormick (2-03)
Buncrana scorers: Michaela Mullan (1-04), Ricky Fagan (1-02), Garteh Porter (0-01).

Buncrana G.A.A. notes.
Buncrana hosted Robert Emmets from Castlefinn at the Scarvey on Sunday last. The game began scrappy with wet underfoot conditions, causing players on both sides to struggle with ball control and timings of tackles. The home side gradually took control of the game thanks to the dominance in midfield of Paul Mc Gonagle, ably assisted by Matthew O_Donnell and Gavin Mc Connell. In full forward, Ryan Bradley proved to be a handful for the visitors defence as he scored 5 great points. Adrian Mc Colgan_s direct style of running was very effective and a point that he scored from 40 metres out on the left hand touchline was the highlight of the first half. In defence, John Doherty and Stephen Rodgers along with goalkeeper, Noel O_ Donnell marshalled the defence well and kept the visitors score to just 3 points at the break.
Buncrana_s domination continued in second half and the visitors could do little to stem the tide of attack. Other points scored came from Oisin Doherty (0-2), Ciaran Mc Callum (0-1), Gavin Mc Connell (0-1) and Ronan Doherty (0-1). The final score was Buncrana 0- 12, Robert Emmetts 0-04. It was a good performance from Buncrana who were deprived of their minor players, Darragh Irwin. Matthew Deeney and Christopher Mc Dermott who are involved in the Donegal Championship game against Armagh on Sunday next in Omagh. The club wishes them well in Healy Park.
The Reserves had a convincing win against Robert Emmetts in a game that saw many goals scored. Stephen Mc Gonagle and Nigel Buchannon dominated the midfield and controlled the game from start to finish. It was these players excellent ability to play the ball into the forward line and indeed Nigel_s solo runs that lead to goals from Adrian Doherty, Feargal Mc Menamin, the veteran, Seamus Doherty and a goal in each half from Ronan Doherty. Player manager, Leo Gill put in an outstanding performance at centre half forward and Adrian Doherty got on to a lot of ball up front to out perform the visitors defence throughout the game. The backline of Stephen Mc Clafferty, Gary Duffy and Caolan Mc Cann played with great skill and determination to keep the visitors at bay. This was a great team display and credit is due to all players.
Seniors and Reserves play Burt on Wednesday June 1st at the Scarvey.
Hurling news
Buncrana U-14s hosted Burt at the Scarvey in a game that was well contested by both teams, however Burt were victorious on the day with a score-line of 3-06 to the home sides 2-03. They travelled to Derry on Sunday last to take on Na Maigha . In a game that was exciting from start to finish Na Maigha were worthy winners at the final whistle. Na Maigha 5-07, Buncrana 2-02.
The monthly meeting will take place in the clubhouse on Tuesday evening at 8.00.p.m. sharp. All team managers, mentors and officials are requested to attend.
MALIN GAA NOTES
Well done to the seniors who defeated St Nauls by 2-11 to 1-09 in Mountcharles. The first half was evenly balanced, the sides going in 1-06 each at the break but in the second period Malin pulled away adding 1-05 to their tally while three converted frees was all St Nauls could muster. This was an excellent result for the seniors and hopefully they can carry this rich vein of form into next weeks game at home to Kilcar, check press for times. So far this year the seniors have played six out of seven games away from home so the two away wins are all the more creditable. Scorers for the seniors were Martin Lafferty(1-04), Anthony Kelly(0-5,4 frees), Shaun Kelly(1-01) and Paddy McColgan.
The reserves went down by 1-11 to 1-03, Niall McLaughlin(1-0), William Logan(0-2) and Terence McLaughlin getting the scores with Henry Rodden and Terence Colhoun best for Malin on the day.
The U-16 side lost by two points to Four Masters last Friday in the Donegal Division 1 semi-final, they were 9 points behind at the interval but a strong second half performance from Malin saw them put Four Masters under severe pressure and had they got another five minutes they would probably have won. The U-16 side meet St Eunans this Friday in the second leg of the Division 1 championship in Letterkenny having won the first leg in Carndonagh. Last week the U-16s met Carndonagh in Buncrana in a playoff for a place in the Inishowen final. Malin led by five points with time running out but a late Carndonagh goal guaranteed nerves were frayed until the end although, in all fairness, a combination of poor shooting and bad luck with Terence Doherty hitting the crossbar twice in a minute, Malin should have won by a much bigger margin as they dominated possession throughout the game. The final score was 1-06 to 1-04 with Steven McLaughlin(1-0), Christy McLaughlin(0-2), Conor Farren(0-2), Terence Doherty and Paul McLaughlin getting Malin,s scores and Malin now meet Moville in the Inishowen A final, hopefully with a full panel this time.
The club would like to thank Tony Scullion from Ballinascreen, Co Derry, the Ulster Coaching Officer, for the coaching session he conducted in the GAA centre recently where 24 club coaches availed of his experience. Tony also took training sessions with the U-16 and minor panels while he was here.
The minors have begun their All County League campaign and meet Termon away on Monday, 30th May.
U-8 and U-10 training now takes place on Friday evenings in Foden, should the weather be bad then training will be in the GAA centre in Malin. Bus times are Culdaff at 5-00, Glengad at 5-15, Malin Head at 5-30 and the GAA centre at 5-45. The U-10 side had a game against Muff last week in Foden where Malin stormed into an early lead before Muff fought back to leave little between the sides at the break. In a very even second half with both sides playing excellent football Muff held a three point lead with five minutes remaining but Malin finished strongly to level the game, a draw a fair result to two sides who played some terrific stuff. Malin were Aiden McColgan, Donal Walsh, Keiran O'Connor, Eamon Hegarty, John O'Neill, Matthew Crampsey, Declan McColgan, Conor Byrne, Christy McLaughlin, Mark Doherty, Christy Doherty, Tommy Byrne, Ronan O'Neill, Jonathon McCarron, Danny McCarron, Padraig Loughery and Lee McDaid.
Training for U-12s has been changed to Thursdays at 6-45 in Malin Head. Bus leaves Malin Town at 6-00, Culdaff at 6-10, Glengad at 6-20 for training.
Training for U-8 and U-10 girls continues every Tuesday in the GAA centre. Parents are asked to have children in Malin for 5-45pm and collect them at 6-45. Any girls who are interested are welcome to come along.
There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. The sequence drawn was 5,2,4,6,7,1,3. Ellen Farren, Glentoskert won the ?50 prize with Christopher McClay, Glentoskert receiving the sellers prize of ?20. Next weeks jackpot now stands at ?2,650. Senior and Reserve League: Carn Reserves 5-11 Naomh Ultan Reserves 0-03
Unlike last week the Reserve forwards were on terrific form hammering Naomh Ultan on Sunday. Midfielder Fergal Doherty got an early score to open Carn's domination but Naomh Ultan got their fare share of time in Carn's half in the first 15 minutes of the match only to manage to one score. Niall McGuinness got the first of the home teams 5 goals after a long run from the 45' quickly followed by a Diarmuid Gallagher goal. It should be noted that great fielding from Naomh Ultan kick-outs by half forward Dermot Simpson was the reason for a lot of Carn's scores throughout the match. Joe McLaughlin left the half time score 3-6 to 0-1 with an accurate goal. Niall McGuinness' second goal very early in the second half destroyed any confidence Naomh Ultan had left although they did get two quick points just before a Feargal Mathews score. Christy McLaughlin's long range efforts seen the substitute get the final few scores in another victory for the Reserves. Best for Carn were Kevin McElhinney, Dermot Simpson and Diarmuid Gallagher.
Carn: Dermot Doherty(B), Ryan Davenport, Des Newton, Mark Canny, Feargal Mathews(0-1), Kevin McElhinney, Daniel McLaughlin(B)(Capt), Fergal Doherty(0-1), Paddy McCallion, Niall McGuinness(2-0), Dermot Simpson(1-1), Michael Nelson(0-3), John Gibbons(0-1), Joe McLaughlin(R)(1-0), Diarmuid Gallagher(1-3). Subs: Owen Doherty(N) for Michael Nelson, Philip Doherty(G) for Joe McLaughlin(R), Christy McLaughlin(W)(0-2) for Diarmuid Gallagher and J.J Lafferty for Niall McGuinness.
Carn Seniors 1-08 Naomh Ultan Seniors 1-05
Another precious two points for the senior squad but a dip in performance from last week. With Carn's first attack a pass into Naomh Ultan's square was met with a Francis Ward fist directing the ball over the bar. Midfielder Kevin Doherty showed his unique vision by spotting the Naomh Ultan keeper off his line from 35 yards. Doherty struck with such power that the keeper barely had time to get a hand up leaving Carn a goal and a point ahead. Naomh Ultan got their first score from a free but Carndonagh Captain Doherty ran from half back unchallenged to keep 4 points between the teams. The ball into the forward line notably wasn't great in the first half but it could have been better if the forwards had positioned themselves better. Half time Carn 1-3 N. Ultan 0-2. The visitors scored first to keep the pressure on but Ward hit his second score with a deflected point. The ball for the forwards much improved in the second half but the hard work to win the incoming passes was wasted with bad shooting. Donnacha Gallagher got his team 3 scores in a row and then full forward Burke was dragged to the ground unfortunately a good save from Gallagher's penalty kept N. Ultan in the match. N. Ultan's persistence paid off when they got a goal but they were denied a second goal as Declan O'Donnell made a match winning save pushing the ball over his crossbar. Best for Carn were Joe Lafferty, Shane Kelly and Kevin Doherty(T).
Carn: Declan O'Donnell, Paddy McLaughlin(M), Joe Lafferty, Justin Doherty, Oliver McConologue, Gerard Doherty(K)(Capt)(0-1), Shane Kelly, Kevin Doherty(T)(1-0), Donnacha Gallagher(0-4), Jerry Simpson, Francis Ward(0-2), Barry Browne(0-1), Niall McLaughlin, Darren Burke, Mickey McLaughlin(M). Subs: Paddy Nelson for Paddy McLaughlin(M) and Dermot Simpson for Jerry Simpson.

NEWS ON THE FIELD:
Well done to the Scoil Naomh Bríd girls who saw off Cockhill on Wed last to lift the Inishowen Bunscoil Div.2 title. They started well & were 3-02 to 2-00 up at half time. Cockhill fought back after the break & narrowed the deficit to two points with a pair of goals in reply to one from the Muff girls. In the final nail biting minutes cockhill looked for the winning goal but some excellent defending & goal keeping held them at bay & in the final attack N. Bríd scored a goal to put the result beyond doubt. The final score was Scoil Naomh Bríd 5-02 Cockhill 4-00. This result rounded off an excellent year for the school as the boys had already won their Div.2 title & the school will be well represented in the knock out stages for the county title. Girls team & scorers; Cassie McColgan, Lauren Harrigan, Donna Rutherford, Sarah McColgan, Andrea McLaughlin, Jessica Doyle 3-01, Ciara Doherty, Karen Harkin 2-00, Catherine Lynch 0-01, Catriona McCrossan, Sarah Grant, Niamh Grant, Niamh Ruterford & Ciara McKinney.
The senior team went down by five points against Lifford on Saturdy away from home. This was a serious blow to their aspirations of promotion but there is still a long way to go & Stephen Browne's men certainly won't be throwing in the towel just yet. This Sunday they will be hoping to get back on track with a home win over Newtown. Throw in is at 3pm. The reserve side will also be at home on Saturday evening at 7.30pm against Kilcar. Hopefully the young side who recently dealt handsomely with St. Michaels will build on that performance this week. The U/16 boys will take on Red Hugh's at home in the first round of the Div.3 Championship on Friday 27th at 7pm. All players should be there at 6.15pm.
Training for seniors, reserves & minors is at 7.30pm on Tuesday & Thursday. The U/12 girls are awaiting confirmation of the date of their county semi final but will continue to prepare at training this Thursday at 4.30pm as usual. U/10 practise takes place from 5pm for one hour each Friday. The U/10 football is non- competitive with the emphasis firmly on the fun element & priority is given to learning the individual skills of the sport from scratch. If your boy or girl would like to develope a sense of team participation & get light exercise under the supervision of highly qualified coaches then why not encourage them to come along on Friday. A bus for anyone interested in joining the U/10's will leave Ballyratten at 4.15pm & St. Mary's Hall at 4.45pm & will return after the training finishes. The new U/14 & Minor campaigns will begin in mid June & all players should be preparing now for pre-season. The managers hope to arrange some challenge matches in the coming weeks. The U/14's train on Tuesdays at 7pm. A bus will pick up all squad members. It departs Clar at 6.15pm & St. Mary's Hall at 6.45pm.
County Committee
Clubs are reminded that when they change the date or time of a game, both clubs must send a letter or Fax to Runai na Chondae confirming the change. The onus is also on the clubs to inform the Referee and the Referees Secretary about the change. This did not happen recently when a referee travelled to a game only to find that the starting time had been brought forward and he hadn't been informed.
