Donegal's Karl Lacey
Tyrone are set to launch an investigation after 'Footballer of the Year' Karl Lacey was spat on by a supporter following yesterday's NFL Division 1 clash in Omagh.
The Donegal star is currently injured and was at the game in a spectator capacity. The incident happened as Donegal left the field following their 0-12 to 1-13 defeat.
Tyrone chairman Ciaran McLaughlin and manager Mickey Harte went to the Donegal dressingroom afterwards to apologise for the incident.
The Red Hand County will seek to identify the male culprit and he could face a lengthy suspension.
McLaughlin told The Irish Daily Star: "We apologised to the Donegal team over an incident which occurred at the end of the match.
"Tyrone will carry out their own investigation into this."
Donegal finished the game with 13 men after captain Michael Murphy and All Star midfielder Neil Gallagher both picked up two yellow cards.
Mickey Harte admitted it was an important victory for his team ahead of their Ulster SFC quarter-final in the summer.
"If you keep losing to somebody, you might get an inferiority complex and that wouldn't be good for anybody, so it was important that we'd win for sure and probably more important for us to win than Donegal.
"I think they can handle the defeat better than we could today and I'm sure they will be better prepared in May because they'll have more put in."
