Buncrana As we begin a new season in the GAA calendar members are reminded to renew their membership through the club treasurer or secretary. After Donegal°¶s historic victory in the National League Campaign last year, tickets for Championship games will be much in demand this year so followers of the team should take note that when tickets are being allocated, fully paid up members will have priority. The monthly meeting of club officials will take place in the clubhouse at the Scarvey on Tuesday 29 January at 8.30pm. The Bord na nÓg meeting will take place on the same evening at 7.30. Everyone is asked to make a special effort to attend. There was no winner of the Jackpot in the weekly Lotto draw on Wednesday evening last. Burt The club's AGM will be held in the clubhouse tomorrow night, Wednesday, starting at 7.00pm. All club members are invited to attend as the club sets out its stall for the year ahead. New members would be particularly welcome. The under-12 hurlers participated in the North Antrim hurling blitz in Ballycastle at the weekend. A panel of ten hurlers took part in the five aside games, which are eight minutes in duration. Burt beat Slaughtneill, drew with Strabane, Coleraine and Ballycastle B and lost their final game to neighbours Buncrana. They will be heading up to Antrim again next weekend to take part in the league competition. Indoor hurling training under the supervision of Colm Davis continues on Saturday mornings, with under-11s from 10am-11.30am and over-11s from 11.30am to 12.30am. All welcome. There was one winner of the lotto jackpot last week. Damian Dowds won ?2,250, just in time to get a good touch about it at the AGM. The numbers drawn were: 1, 3, 4, 2, 5, 7, 6. Next week's jackpot is now ?400. A coaching seminar for under-12 football coaches will be held in Malin on Friday night from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. All club coaches are encouraged to attend the course, which will be given by Mick Murphy and Paddy Hegarty. Carndonagh The winning numbers in the mini lotto were 22, 18, 9 and 20. Club membership for 2008 is as follows: Primary School Children ?2; Secondary School Children ?10; Third Level Students ?20; Senior Players ?50; and non- playing adult members ?20. Membership may be paid to any club officer on or before 1 March. Coaching course at Malin GAA Club on Friday 18th January 7-30p.m. - 9-30p.m. All coaches involved with U8, U10 and U12 teams should attend this course. The club are currently accepting orders for club jumpers/tracksuit tops in club colours. The tops will cost ?40 and can be ordered from club officers or email [email protected], please specify size. Malin Commiserations to the reserve side who lost the Division 1B reserve final to St Michaels on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-6 on Saturday in Buncrana. A failure to convert possession into scores in the first quarter was to cost Malin dearly as St Michaels came on strong in the second half and were well worth the victory. A very important meeting for all senior girls interested in playing football for Malin takes place this Saturday, 18 January, in the GAA centre at 6pm sharp. All girls from last year and new members are all very welcome. The annual dinner dance takes place on Saturday 26 January in the Malin Hotel with music by Shunie and Hugh P. Special guest for the evening is Terence McGinley, Donegal Development Officer. Tickets are priced at ?25 with dinner served at 9pm sharp. This is always a very popular function so tickets should be ordered as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Tickets are available from usual committee members. Training for U-8 and U-10 girls takes place on Fridays in the GAA centre from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. All girls within the above age groups are welcome. A coaching session for all U-8, U-10 and U-12 coaches in Inishowen takes place in Malin on Friday, 18 January from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, all coaches of above age groups are asked to attend. Training for U-8 boys continues on Sundays in the GAA centre from 11am to Midday. Congratulations to Eamon Doherty, Ballynahona, winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of ?550. Next weeks jackpot now stands at ?500. As always, the club thanks the local community for its continued support. Fresh stock of club gear has arrived in McClean's, anyone who has recently placed orders for club gear should collect from McClean's as soon as possible. Finally, the club wishes Shaun Kelly and his girlfriend Jenny Hartin all the best for the future as they depart for Australia on Sunday. Shaun has been an integral part of the senior side for the last number of years and will be a big loss to the club in 2008. Hopefully it will not be too long before we see him back in the black and amber of Malin. Moville Con O'Donnell was returned as chairman at a well-attended AGM on Saturday. Naomh Pádraig, Uisce Chaoin The Naomh Pádraig AGM took place at the clubhouse on Sunday past. The members in attendance heard the reports from the club officers. All the officers agreed it was a memorable year for the club with the highlight being the official opening in April which was performed by the President of the Ulster Council, Tom Daly and was followed by a challenge game between the newly crowned league champions Donegal and Westmeath. Other highlights from the year mentioned by the officers included the fundraising done as part of Neal Toye's mayoral campaign which was a fantastic success, the improvements made at Scoil Naomh Fíonnan where the girls became county champions and the boys lost narrowly in the final, the continued successes of the Parish League and Summer Camp and the introduction of Hurling. Everyone who assisted the club throughout the year were thanked and another positive year in 2008 was hoped for. Anyone who intends playing for the Club this year must be a club member to ensure their correct registration. Membership also entitles you to first shout on any Donegal tickets that are for sale throughout the course of the season. The next Club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 23 January at 8pm. All members are encouraged to attend these meetings at what is a crucial time for the future of the Club. The cost of the yearbook is ?15 and there is also a Donegal Facts book available at ?12. A special limited edition tracksuit is on offer to anyone who reaches the quota of 150 tickets sold. Members are reminded to return all Development Draw tickets as soon as they have them sold, this will help to keep the draw running smoothly and let the Finance committee keep an eye on the progress of sales. Coaches are still needed to help out with the underage football teams, ladies are especially needed this year. If you would like to help out then contact any Committee member as soon as possible. Inishowen Board Under-15 The Inishowen under-15 development squad will meet for their first training of the New Year on Wednesday 23 January at 7.30pm at Malin. County under-16 manager Des Newton will take an indoor session that will help players work on their strength and conditioning. Under-age coaching meeting County coaches Mick Murphy and Paddy Hegarty will be in Malin on Friday night to give a presentation on under-age football coaching for the season ahead. The session is open to everyone who intends to coach at under-8, under-10 and under-12 leves in 2008, and coaches from all Inishowen clubs are encouraged to attend. The session will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, and coaches should wear tracksuits and runners as there will be some practical demonstrations of training drills. Coaching conference in Cookstown The fourth Annual Coaching and Games Development Conference, organised by Comhairle Uladh and sponsored this year by O'Neills, will take place on Saturday 19 January in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown. This conference has an excellent track record in providing the most innovative workshops, which have been designed to better equip coaches for the difficult task they face in striving to make their players the best that they can be. Combined with a range of highly skilled, professional guest speakers, this conference promises to benefit all who register to attend it. The conference attendance is limited to 350, and places will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
