So basically it translates directly from the German word Dachshund (Dach meaning badger and hung meaning dog).

If he gets the offer he should take it. But it is a steep path to get that one Irish spot per team on their category B rookie list that is permitted. Category B maximum salary per year btw is under €36k so the land of milk and honey doesn't start straight away. The experience alone would be worth it however ohwow (Leitrim) - Posts: 303 - 19/08/2026 14:35:41 2690452 Link 0 |

would this make him the third leitrim man to have a stint in the afl or atleast have a trial ? Im fairly sure ballinaglera sent a guy over a few years back . i also heard once while i was in the blue devon dromahair that a player from there club represented geelong in the late 80s

If it was from Glera it was probably to work in the mines - bit of experiece built up from Arigna. Definitely not for football purposes anyway AFL or otherwise

Very interesting to see, and kind of surprising that he never attended one of these combine/trial days before. Dodgy_Pass (Leitrim) - Posts: 434 - 19/08/2026 19:45:05 2690505 Link 0 |

Am hoping to cross the bridge in Rooskey this weekend to see a game in Leitrim SFC. Leitrim Gaels must be favourites again. Is it a toss up between Mohill, Fenagh, Bmore SOH and St Mary's after that ? Heard there was fireworks in Bmore v Mohill last week. Any reports from someone there ? tommyc (Roscommon) - Posts: 37 - 19/08/2026 20:00:51 2690507 Link 0 |

The Gaa has to do something about AFL taking our talent for nothing. Like kobe and barry are two of the best wonderkids to ever come from mayo and leitrim and wont be able to see the very best of them. I know barry has been around a few seasons but he would be a huge loss for us who rarely get a superstar like him. LM94 (Leitrim) - Posts: 9 - 19/08/2026 21:14:45 2690516 Link 1 |

Always good to visit a competitive county where you don't know who the winner of the senior title will be, unlike Roscommon alas where it is always St Brigids. Hope you enjoy the football on this side of the river.
