They could t find the space they got eat up, the intensity from limerick had them in big trouble early and often. Limerick played their best game all year. As I said Galway needed to keep the limerick backs occupied even if it meant the two corners standing at the end line all match

It will be like the old days guaranteed All Ireland Semi Final because the competition in Leinster is so poor Galway could dominate it for the next 10yrs. I couldn't believe how badly Galway played on Sunday,I'm not too worried because Galway can play alot better than they did on Sunday. If Galway had played with the same skill and intent as they had v Cork We definitely would have won on Sunday. It has to be the worst Galway overall performance in a All Ireland Hurling Final for 50yrs katser (Galway) - Posts: 2924 - 22/07/2026 20:24:31 2686656 Link 0 |

You shipped a similar beating in the 2012 replay by the same amount? Man sent off in the second half too, and down by a similar amount at halftime.

Interesting that both were against generational teams.

And then the group had a bit of a falling out and handed clare the softest All Ireland in yrs.

Yes. You were very unlucky to meet 2 generational teams motivated by retirement for many players being in sight in the not too distant future. That team you had in the teens were unlucky not to win more than the one AI title. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 20323 - 23/07/2026 10:38:32 2686707 Link 0 |

Limerick came out of nowhere in 2018 and developed into a machine. Why is it never us? CillTormoir (Galway) - Posts: 617 - 23/07/2026 11:29:18 2686720 Link 0 |

They certainly didn't come from nowhere. They might have got there a bit earlier than expected, but that was a very highly touted group coming through. A huge number of them had won U21 All Irelands in 2015 and 2017 and had Fitzgibbon titles with UL and Mary I. The success wasn't out of the blue either, but came from a lot of hard work done underage with development squads and increasing participation rates. The financial support to achieve this was also very important. They got their house in order in a big way and also had a generational group come along. It's not us, because we haven't done the same or had such a group come through. It took what was pretty much a generational team in Galway to win one All-Ireland, combined with having one of the best hurlers to ever play the game.
