Replying To sleater:  "The League game against Mayo was the worst performance of the league. The 2 pointers from Fergal Boland before half time really killed any hope for Monaghan and they capitulated in the second half. Monaghan have improved in every game in the championship so far and further improvement is required again this weekend.

The injury situation for Monaghan is a bit unclear - unlikley to see Kelly (Achilles) and Carolan (hamstring). Bannigan previously said Michael Hamill would be back for All Ireland series so he must be close. Ward and McGorman, unsure what the story is here , especially Ward as he was on crutches after the Armagh game.

McElerney is suspended, so will that mean Ryan Wylie gets game time?"
No word on mc gorman, dessie is grand apparently, few back spasms. At worst a few painkillers.

Hope McGorman makes a swift return. He's had a great impact in an hours football when you consider the last 20 minutes against Derry and the first 40 against Armagh. I'm not going to dwell on what might have been if he was fit to run for that pass that eventually led to the first Armagh goal.

Is Cameron Dowd carrying a knock? Pity to see him miss out on an Ulster Final appearance but maybe just due to using more attack-minded subs on the day.

Basically, Lee Keegan and pretty much any pundit I've listened to say this match is pretty much gonna be a cake walk for Mayo, that they will have a big response and Monaghan are just canon fodder for them on their way back to the big time. Hope the management pin those comments on the dressing room wall.

Different competition to Malone's minor team. They reached the All Ireland final. This is the equivalent of the Tailteann Cup.
The Ulster league is a pre season competition. Championship is where it's at.
3-16 conceded v Tyrone.
12 point lead coughed up in 15 minutes v Donegal.
No lessons learned from the Tyrone defeat. That's not on the players.

Think we're well overdue a win against Mayo.

Good side in the circumstances. Mccaul better coming on. Pity about Gary Mohan but he just didn't look right and a long way off fitness when he came on in the final. A big loss as Mayo are very strong at midfield so a handicap straight away there for us.

I think this is a massive game for Monaghan.

Mayo will fancy that they can turn Monaghan over without a huge amount of difficulty. Monaghan don't get a lot of real respect outside of Ulster so this is an opportunity to put down a marker and earn that respect.

Watching the needle and carry-on in the Donegal Kerry game really shows the mentality and level teams are playing at now. Gloves are off and it's win at all costs. Mayo will be doing whatever it takes.

I hope Monaghan are ready for this. They have to show they can continue on the upward curve here and that they can kick on from the Ulster final and put last year's defeat to Donegal in the quarter finals behind them, not panic and handle whatever Mayo throw at them. I'm expecting Mayo to try and blitz Monaghan in the first 20 minutes.

Gary Mohan is a big loss but plenty of players have damaged themselves in the longer term by playing through injury. It's better to have him available for the next game (if he's fit). Injuries are going to affect all teams from now on. Teams will just have to cope.

The door is open for Monaghan.

Not an attack or not directed towards any individual. Simply an observation/opinion about last 2 games.
Moving on,Monaghan showed enough v Armagh to give encouragement we can beat Mayo on Sunday evening. Would reignite the whole season.
Magheracloone and Latton seem to be going well in senior. Will be a battle for relegation between a few teams. Good start for Donaghmoyne, Doohamlet and Clones in Intermediate. Between Eire Og or Tyholland for the bottom. Currin, Drumhowan and Toome started well in Junior. Killeevan also going well. Interesting.
