He's had 139 attempts at it also and never once said anything remotely inventive or witty. He really is the worst attempt at the genre I've seen

Barry McHugh scored 14 points for M/M yesterday in the league which included a mixture 5 or 6 2ptfs both from the ground and his hands. Some exhibition of scoring from the sharpest shoot in the county.... how has he not been utilised by PJ? Is it his commitment? His temperament? there is something odd about not using Barry. The one thing we need at the moment is a 45 kicker.

I've said numerous times here he should be on the panel. He keeps teams very honest in their defending as he will punish nearly any free within 50m from the goals. He has kept Mountbellew-Moylough competitive for the past few years. Mr Joyce, lift and phone and invite him back in.

Correction, I've been told 15 points. Billy Mannion was highly impressive midfield, his fielding was excellent and made a lot of bursting runs. Matthew Reddington was equally as impressive, he was in with Galway I was told at the beginning of the season and even captained them in a friendly versus Mayo but got injured.

I dont think that phone call will happen Think about it . If Barry went in and doesnt work out it would be bad all round. If he went back in and delivers it would prove that it was a huge mistake to dtop him , and a mistake that might have cost us an AI. The jury is out as to which way it would go as county is different to club. Aa a fan of Barrys ability, I have my opinion but i undersatand other peoples view also and i guess we are not going to find out at this stage. anotheralias (Galway) - Posts: 1061 - 29/03/2026 13:41:37 2663718 Link 0 |

I always thought his was worth his place on the team because he is the best free taker in the county. He's decent from play not great at county level but having a man who can convert almost every free we get is worth it . He had one bad day at the office vs Roscommon in the Hyde but that was it. Every other game if it was in any way scoreable it was going over the bar. Maybe Barry has no interest but i think a call should've been made

There's lads kicking 2 pointers and frees for fun at the weekend and especially with way wind was at weekend so have to take bit of context of club league games in March to compare with heat of battle in intercounty game is a different game altogether. Top intercounty Teams haven't carried a player for free taking ability in 20 years and not taking anything away from Barry who's been one of the top club footballers in the county but club action doesn't always transfer across to intercounty level. Dessie& Frankie burke Alan o Donovan are 3 lads that spring to mind ,Gary Kelly and Paul mannion at intermediate level. The best of club players but don't always bring it up to next level Gaagael15 (Galway) - Posts: 37 - 30/03/2026 00:12:08 2663877 Link 0 |

I totally agree in relation to step up between club and Inter county but I have to say our free taking worries me and its highlighted now more than ever with the importance of 2 pointers etc. Everytime i see Gleeson trot up for a 45 or a long range free my eyes bleed i dont remeber him scoring many obv the last min one against mayo stands out. Who is our long range free taker? In a dream world you would say a fully fit Walsh but that is not the case. Could it be tierney or conroy? Rob F for inside 45 for a left footer.

Would have beaten Armagh in the AIF if he was on the bench to be brought on for Finnerty.

So does anyone actually know what is the story with Walsh and Comer's injuries. Any return dates? It's fine and well saying management have moved on without them but you need marquee players to win big games at Croke Park. It is hard to see Comer starting for Galway again unfortunately. Huge pity. centrefield99 (Galway) - Posts: 146 - 30/03/2026 15:00:12 2663972 Link 0 |
