Replying To Galwayman67420:  "Always the way with the county, arrangements are always made to suit the north board. No consideration for the city/west at all. They'll put a toll on the quincentennial bridge yet."
Agreed, even for a young lad from say Clifden that makes a panel, training in the likes Glenamaddy (which seems to be head of operations these days) places an awful strain on parents and players.

Really needs to be looked at in my opinion.

Speaking to Matt Cooper on "The Last Word" on Today FM last evening, former Galway All-Ireland winning captain Ray Silke spoke about the current injury concerns in the Galway squad

"Cillian McDaid will hopefully be back for Championship & Eamon McGrath is currently out injured too.
The prospects for Shane Walsh being back are not good & unfortunately for Damien Comer it's even worse".

I don't think we will ever see Comer play again for Galway. I hope I'm wrong of course. Shane Walsh should just stay out until the Connacht Final if we get there.

Replying To galwayman2:  "Actually I hadn't noticed beforehand but looking at the bench for the Monaghan game there was only one out and out forward on the bench - Colm Costello.
Very strange"
Similar to today's match day squad, apart from Mikey Mulryan there is no inside or out and out scoring forwards on the bench.

Sadly, I believe you are right about Comer. It is very unfortunate for him but based on the last few years, I don't see how anyone can think he will ever be close to fully right again. At best, he might play half a game at some point and that will likely be followed by yet another long layoff. Constantly hoping and praying that he is eventually coming back is just a massive distraction for the team and it is not good for his long-term health.

This Galway team are way off it in terms of the new rules. So slow moving the ball. Handpassing around the ark. Also what's the story with playing about 8 backs on the team?

Much better 2nd half in certain ways but still no forward play at all. Very reliant on finnerty and afraid we are a very ordinary team. A lot of fit and athletic lads but with the new rules not feel we are still missing 2 or 3 more footballers. Of course this is without Walsh, mc daid and comer.

Great win, it wasn't looking great for a long time. The changes were positive when they came. Mulhern is a joy, always looking to kick. Rob was brilliant but for the penalty. Finally, we need to sort out the long range frees and get McDaid back.

No cohesiveness in our attack for 45 / 50 minutes today, took the sending off to spark something. Despite the poor penalty attempt Finnerty is clearly a class apart compared to the other inside forward options and it showed when things opened up. Division 1 status retained which is the main thing, hopefully the 5 week break allows some injuries to be dealt with and we can push on for the championship.

Replying To anotheralias:  "Oh i would still be wary of our status. Our good neighbours flattered Kerry at the weekend. They are not that good.Armagh are a proper side, fighting for survival, at home, and i will be surprised if they dont win. Then its down to us and dublin have come out of the traps fast last 2 games. We are no world beaters and could easily lose by more than 4. Monaghan game was a bit of a schoolday for our newbies, who have had a very encouraging campaign over all, but they all struggled yesterday. We were carried through by savage perfomances by seasoned heads, kelly, maher, tierney, darcy were immense. Mchugh, glynn, finnerty in the 2nd half were excellent too, while flaherty, mcgrath, hernon mixed the good with the bad. Silke quiet enough. Conroy showed class when he came on. But we need some of the other experienced heads back to be seriously competitive, mcdaid , walsh, thompson. I dare not mention comer but i just have to. ...he is too good to completely discount even if its a 1% chance."
So delighted to be proven wrong again. Although with 10 minutes to go my prophecy of doom was looking likely. If there was a transfer market in GAA , John Maher would carry a hefty price tag. Finnerty and Hernon excellent too. Corner backs and Silke had very strong games too. Im happy all round but we need our star forwards back to help Rob The new lads are showing promise but they have a way to go. Also hope injuries to kelly and tierney not serious, they are both going well. Also a mention to daniel o flaherty

A good league campaign across the 4 codes. Both ladies team in div 1 finals. Hurlers comfortably retain div 1 status. Footballers a bit squeekier but we back in div 1 again . I think Cork join us next year as only div 1 counties in all 4 codes

How many weeks until their next match? They're heading to a training camp in Portugal , hopefully injuries will improve. They were poor today. Rough game, thought Dublin deserved it more. Could have done with some scorers.

Mulhern I think is getting turned over more than others on the team. He needs a fair bit of strengthening over the winter to hold off the first tackler.

Solid league campaign and finished it on a high against a side who's need was greater.

Lots of new or newish faces who have put their hands up for championship selection.

I agree with both of you. Getting turned over too easily and needs physical development, but a joy to watch too with great potential.
