Replying To Afinestick96:  "One thing I wonder is would our current senior team be viewed differently if the under 20s managed to get over the line when they lost Leinster finals narrowly in 22 and 23 . We were close to two All ireland u20 finals on both occasions but couldnt see it out. If they did win those Leinsters I think people would have been a lot more positive about our prospects than they are now."
Absolutely they would. Yet we would still have exactly the same players from those teams that we have now.

Id probably swap Rory Jacob for Gizzy Lyng, and then switch Jacob and Chin. But apart from that Id pick exactly the same team.

Replying To Afinestick96:  "Having watched Wexford since early 2000s Lee Chin is a clear number 1 for me. Fitzhenry number 2. Then I would have a few together hard to rank like Darragh Ryan, Rory Jacob, Gizzy Lyng and Rory O Connor"
That's a pretty big statement.

I love Chin, but I'd say fitzy is the only one in my lifetime that was the best in his position anywhere in Ireland for a sustained period, probably ever.

Can I ask those who think that, how you think this team compares to the team of 2019? I guess if you think they can win Leinster, then 7-8 of the new names since 2019 would make the 2019 team? So what is a combined Wexford team, 2019 and 2026 look like?
I'm not seeing any games so must be much better than I believe to be the case.
From my distant vantage, away trips to Offaly and Kildare have big red sirens and alarms ringing but I am missing a lot so you are going to tell me we will win those 2 games, beat Dublin and Galway at home and then play Kilkenny in the final, yeah?"
Winning Leinster is pretty ambitious this year. The consistency is the problem. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm more afraid of Kildare and Offaly than Dublin, Galway or Kilkenny

That's some team. I would actually want to include Richie kehoe, David Redmond and Paul Morris but where I just don't know.

I wouldn't read anything into the captain choice, other than it gwas given to Jack for his years of service but mainly due to St martins run this year. As for Rory I love if he came back for the championship, but he not and I would settle now for him, mac, s reck etc.. coming back next year at this stage.
As for this year, we are a good bit of winning Leinster lads, come on. If we beat Offaly, Kildare and take another scalp and find 2 or 3 new lads to strengthen the panel I take that for this year. Maybe I am wrong but I think that been very realistic.

I agree that would be an ok outcome for the year, but I still believe we could win Leinster.

I am hearing Rory will be back, but you can't be sure until it happens.

Right now we're ranked 4th in Leinster, but nobody in Leinster is top class so how much ground can we make up in a short space of time? Let's wait and see.

6 points could get third place.

One theme of Rossi's tenure is we've been fairly hard to beat. Don't forget, we won Leinster in 19 by getting 3 important draws.

Tbh we probably are a bit off winning Leinster even if Rory comes back for Chanpionship which I don't think will happen (hope I'm wrong) Overall I am happy with how this year has went so far. Another big test for the lads this weekend . I think if we can get up to 1A it will be a huge achievement for this group of players

6 points will only get 3rd if we beat the team that finishes 4th.

It seems a lot of people have a very strange idea of what being a captain of a team should mean and in particular at the top level. If it means so little then just name a water boy as it. I heard a clip of Cyril Farrell saying the same thing about why Jack was made captain, only to get Rory back. How disrespectful is that to Jack, her have this title only so your brother comes back to play. Being captain should mean something to you, the others players, managers and supporters. From what I have seen here a lot of people couldn't care who the leader of the team is. Every team has leaders on the field however there should be only one voice. Jack is a massive talent and I hope he does bring that leadership, his form like the Martins themselves has been inconsistent so hopefully now for him and Wexford that has changed.

Think you might be guilty of overthinking this. Maybe Chin had enough of being captain and wanted to focus on his own game. Not a bad idea I think to change it up. Jacko hasn't performed consistently for many years so now or never for him. It does put a bit of subtle pressure on Rory to come back no point saying any different. Just that the team would be putting it's best foot forward with his brother as captain, we do that with Rory involved. He would want to be coming home soon though if he is going to commit this year.

I was thinking the same myself . Championship is only 6 weeks away if he is coming back he would surely need a months training

Depends what he has been doing over in Oz, but I imagine he will be in top physical shape right now, maybe better than he has been in years. Alot of the niggling injuries hes been carrying might have improved for the rest anyway.

I hope he's in great shape but hard to see him commit now at this stage. Championship is only 6 weeks away or so and no matter what he has done in Australia it wont be the same as intercounty.

Granted he played right up to Christmas but even if he wanted to get home now, getting a flight will be a pain considering whats going in in the gulf. He's not here this year lads

Very much divided opinion on here whether Rory comes home or not.
My own opinion is that he has more than likely been in touch with Rossi and I'm fairly sure he knows if in deed he will be returning soon or not.
Maybe it was a decision by management to make Jacko captain as a means to get Rory to come home.
Yes it most definately would be great to have him on board. It would seriously increase our chances of doing well in leinster. Especially if we have Jippo as well.
Its entirely up to the lad himself.
I would be thinking that he won't be influenced by his brother been captain.
Anyway it's all speculation at the moment, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out.

Yeah not sure how people would get home from Oz at the moment with the flights situation . Also he may be fit but it would take him weeks of training to get his hurling back up to speed. He is a generational talent but even Rory can't just come back and be ready to play championship hurling in no time

The earth isn't flat you know, there is more than 1 way home from Australia.
Best of luck to Wexford on Sunday, if we get up to 1A this is a great achievement.
