Great achievement for him whichever way you spell it."
There's only one way to spell Tadhg, and the man himself spells it like that, as does everyone with the name.
Tadgh doesn't make any sense phonetically in Irish, so it doesn't mean the same thing.

I'm probably as pedantic as they come with regard to things like spelling and punctuation, but in fairness, Tadhg is an easy one to get wrong. I sometimes have to stop and think myself when I come to write it. I think too much is being made of the other poster spelling it incorrectly.

* Now frantically checks this post for typos or similar before hitting 'Post Message', for fear of the pedantic one making a mistake himself at such a time! :D

Storm in a tea cup !.
There's no rights or wrongs in whatever spelling you use, it's all about preferences of the day.

It shows a lack of effort on your part. In fairness, the bar you set for yourself is fairly low.

No storm at all. Just pointing out that we see the incorrect spelling of the name a lot. I agree with the other posters that it's an easy one to get wrong, particularly for non-Gaeilge speakers.
If I was to keep referring to Paul O'Connell as Plau O'Connell, I'd definitely be spelling his name wrong. So there is a right way and a wrong way of spelling a name.

Thanks for the post and the very welcome sense of humour.

Your initial interest in my spelling / misspelling of Tadgh / Tadhg was to say the least interesting, what it really boiled down to was the reversal of the last two letters, hg simple as that, how they were arranged in the spelling meant a lot to you and I respect that.

I went out of my way to put my understanding and my view's on the spelling in my post.

However, yesterday I posted two replies making sure they were squeaky clean and within the house rules, unfortunately they didn't make the forum. I also posted a reply to a different poster, sadly that post didn't make the forum either, unless I'm mistaken it is the fourth time in a month, I simply don't understand how it works.

I was of the opinion it is a forum to share sporting information, not a popularity forum.

Happy Xmas, - - - - sorry I mean Christmas.

You might be overthinking it a bit. It's just an observation on how regularly Tadhg is misspelled. I see it sometimes in newspaper articles, so you're far from alone, and I can see how it can be a tricky one.
The reversal of the last two letters is indeed the main one I see, but sometimes the d can also find itself out of place.
If I reverse the last two letters of the name Paul it becomes a different name. I don't know of any Palu over this side of the country though.
I'm on here to hear different opinions, so keep them coming.
