Midfield gave Moycullen the platform to win as they won 25 of the 42 kick outs. It was the accuracy in front of the posts that won the game for Brigids and lost it for Moycullen. Moycullen 46% on their shooting and 60% for Brigids. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 627 - 30/11/2025 16:20:47 2646526 Link 1 |

Very good game. Hand, Carroll and Stack very good for Bridget's. Moycullen goal should not have stood. Over reliance on Peter Cooke though dominating centre field without him. We have to support Bridget's now. If you have a player/players able to convert 2pts, it seems to me you have to move ball faster - accurate kick passes from half back line - to put those players in good position with a half second to set up shot. Instead this slow hand pass buildup virtually telegraphs your intention even if Clifford showed that no matter- a great player can avail of a half chance. Think Cooke only got one shot off and he looked off balance taking it. Normally he scores 2 or 3 two pointers for Moycullen but Bridget's had him well covered around the arc. That said he also only played half the game. Without Cooke scoring, Moycullen need another scoring forward to step up and they don't have one really. If they still had Owen Gallagher they probably would have won that game. The tall Fionn McDonagh was a right handful for Bridget's but he's probably not going to swing over many points. I see Kevin O'Brien, the former Corofin manager with Scotstown versus Newbrige today. I wonder would he be able to assist Galway. GDL (Galway) - Posts: 887 - 30/11/2025 18:21:18 2646538 Link 0 |

I thought he had a fair few shots. The 45 before half time was madness and terrible game management Then in 2nd half with wind they do what they should have done in first half and go back when really dessie should have took it on. jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1772 - 30/11/2025 18:22:06 2646539 Link 0 |

Very disappointing result for Maigh Cuillean today. Hard not to think Salthill or Corofin would have beaten Brigids. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2697 - 30/11/2025 20:21:16 2646551 Link 0 |

Hard to think they would have beaten them as well, on all known recent form.

Corofin lost by 5 points to Brigids two years ago. Salthill would probably celebrate a county title win too much and heads would not be right for a Connacht campaign. Roscommon v Galway final in Hyde Park next May will be no surprise at all. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 627 - 30/11/2025 23:45:07 2646580 Link 0 |

That's the worst I've seen St Brigids play since the group stage here. About 2 of their players played to form and they were completely flat for most of the game. However once they got to grips in the 2nd half with the Moycullen attack and shut down Dessie and Cooke Moycullen looked out of ideas. Brigids dominated the last 10 as they were only finding their flow and had it gone on longer they were pulling away. rossie4sam (Roscommon) - Posts: 46 - 01/12/2025 07:21:55 2646584 Link 0 |

Good Game, well done Brigit's, in fairness they were probably bigger winners than the score suggests. Totally on top in the middle second half. PJ and Co have a full county now to choose from. I was hoping McLoughlin might be an option for the county at midfield, but it did not look like it yesterday, although he is coming back from a very long lay off.

Kevin Johnson is with the u20s, not Kevin O Brien

I think the better team won yesterday, no complaints at all. That said, the decision to kick that 45 just on halftime, it dropped short and led to a 2 pointer on the turnover, that was ridiculous. Go short or put it dead. Not hindsight, just advice that anyone would give in that situation. conordee (Galway) - Posts: 458 - 01/12/2025 09:37:07 2646592 Link 1 |

Very good game to be fair and two contrasting styles but ultimately the team who had the better forwards won. Moycullen dominated midfield and possession but did not have the natural forwards. Not sure who was picking up no 11 Hand but he did untold damage and was head and shoulders best player on pitch. Was it S Kelly? Shows he is better attacking the defendings. Moycullen were in trouble as they had kept Connelly quiet and Clarke & Maloney had 2 bad misses near end. That one will hurt Moycullen. Cooke was on the peripheary. O Connor going off injured was a loss. Eire89 (Galway) - Posts: 449 - 01/12/2025 09:37:22 2646593 Link 0 |

Don't think Kelly was on him. To be honest for a lot of the time it looked like nobody was.

Ya was bizarrre he was not picked up even at ht after all damage he had done. Has he ever been given a chance with Ros? the 2 pointer before HT was a killer from a moycullen perspective and as a previous psoter said Cooke going for a 45 near the sideline was madness. Moycullen should look at getting an inside forward in the market to support Dessie who was kept quiet. They have very good ball carriers and big physical men but lack of a scoring forward let them down when Cooke was having an off day. It will take a good team to bear Brigids and fair play to them play a lovely brand of football.

Dessie was one of Moycullen best players 2nd half. Cooke struggled to make an impact as man marked Rory Fallon and Cooke didn't track back leaving Fallon unmarked for the goal. Brigids played similar in Drawn final against Pearses it's what happens when two good teams meet and you don't get things all your own way as previously against weaker or poorly organised teams. 'Totally on top in the middle'? You obviously didn't see the game. Brigids were never on top in the middle at any point in that game.
