Replying To katser:  "Big game tonight for Northern Ireland......draw in Bratislava should see them finish 2nd with an expected home win at a bouncing Windsor Park v Luxembourg! ( Germany will beat Slovakia in last game)
40 years later can they go back to Mexico for a World Cup to embrace that majestic Mexico '86 World Cup team they had!"
Hopefully Slovakia and Luxemburg will best them in both games, north of Ireland players should all be playing for Ireland anyway, any of them that are good enough that is.
Don't know how the nationalist players assuming there are any on that north of Ireland team can stand for the British anthem.

I hope it goes the way you described it. I love the World Cup but Id love even more if Ireland and Northern Ireland get in. The U17s are doing great. Future looks bright.

Let's hope Slovakia do the business then and beat them

I wouldn't get carried away by the result, welcome and all as it was. Portugal have qualified for the world cup unless they fall apart against the mighty Armenia. They weren't going to get injured or exert themselves too much in Dublin. Hope the result gives our lads a bit of confidence and they do the buisness in Hungary.

Replying To supersub15:  "Far be it for me to tell you what a good Christiann is, however, in my opinion the expression "Christian" comes from the word Christ, as does Christianity and with Christianity comes the commitment to follow Christ, add to that you got to believe in Christ. For the record Protestants are Christians even allowing for that little bit of a difference between them and us RC's.

In a nutshell, if you believe in Christ, you will follow him, if you follow him, you are home and dry.

As for behaviour, all people are in charge of and responsible for their own behaviour.

I hope this goes some way in answering your question.
What's your call on it.??"
I repeat the question green and red, what's your call on it.??

Not that big a game. They're in the playoffs anyway, via 'the backdoor', i.e. nation's league. They'll likely have to knock off 2 sides better than themselves to navigate the playoffs. I hope they don't make it 'personally'.

If they don't end up qualifying for the World Cup, they still can at least look forward to hosting the prestigious Euro 2028 qualifying draw. Can't think of anything better than that.

I didn't Doyler. Born and bred in Ballyhaunis. There's a Muslim population there because of the Halal meat factory, since the 1970s and Ireland's first purpose built mosque, built in the 1980s.

Ah man you could only laugh if it wasn't so depressing.
They spurned a generational chance to really discard the old negativity of the past, and demonstrate to the world that the North of Ireland was capable of progress & cooperation.

Yet there they were the other day, proud as punch, ludicrously celebrating the fact that they were going to got the qualifying draws. Dhia sábháil

Why would you want the north of Ireland in it?

What is your point here? Why not compare the atmosphere at home games for the Czech Republic and Ireland, what difference does it make about the atmosphere at a North of Ireland game?

My grandmother was a good Catholic Donegal woman in the 70s and 80s. Mass every day, cooked and brought meals to less well off people, Legion of Mary. A decent woman who also loved Dev. Made me very aware of the Church but never bullied me about it. I think I take some values from her even though I don't go to mass."
Bravo.

I have friends up there. Something different. Tired of the usual teams getting there all the time. And hey: why not?

Some of us consider Ireland to be a 32 county country.
