(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

1 - David Gallagher

2 - Donal Keoghan

3 - Kevin Reilly

4 - Eoin Harrington

5 - Bryan Menton (marking Brian Cullen because he could match Cullen's strenght)

6 - Donnacha Tobin (marking Alan Brogan because he could match Brogans pace)

7 - Mickey Burke

8 - Conor Gillespie

9 - Graham Reilly (marking M.D. McAuley because he could match his fitness and stamina)

11 - Damien Carroll

12 - Alan Forde

13 - Brian Farrell

14 - Joe Sheridan

15 - Stephen Bray (Could switch Cian Ward with Bray if and when Ward gets tired)

1209138 I would go for..

1. David Gallagher - Kick-outs far better against Kildare and this was key,it was the first game he didn't use the tee and this meant the ball wasn't lofting in the air as much,so fair play .

I'm fairly sure he was using a tee. Rules stipulate that you have to use the tee. There's two types but the plastic flat cone seems to put less air under the ball.

Having said that, Kildare wiped us out on kickouts in the second half. It was only when Lynch went off that we started to dominate again thanks to Gillespie's fielding. Kickouts still a problem but we're giving our midfielders a bit more space to attack the ball, that's good. Kildare changed their match-ups in the second half, Carroll didn't win any primary posession plus we didn't hit Meade or Reilly often enough.

ollie99 thats not the rule the rule gives the keeper the option of the tee...cluxton doesnt use one...having said that i think i did see gallagher use some sort of a tee not 100% sure though

I read an article in a national newspaper describing it as being mandatory. The idea was to stop lumps getting kicked out of the pitch. Must have been nonsense.

THE STARTING 15 HAS TO BE THE SAME APART FROM KEVIN REILLY COMING IN AT FULL BACK AND MENTON MOVING OUT TO CENTRE HALF, THINK TIN WAS RIGHT FROM THE WORD GO WITH PLAYING ALAN FORDE,HES ONLY 19 AND NOW SOME OF U THINK HE SHOULD BE DROPED .IF U LOOK BACK ON THAT GAME HE WAS THE FIRST TO MAKE MC GEENEY SWITCH HIS GAME PLAN . HE PLAYED RIGHT HALF BACK TILL HE WAS 16, BUT THEN SWITCHED TO CENTRE HALF FORWARD ,WHERE HE NOW PLAYS WITH HIS CLUB, HE SCORES FOR FUN WITH HIS CLUB AND HE WILL ONLY IMPROVE WITH GAMES. THOSE OF U WHO THINK HE SHOULD BE DROPED , SHOULD THINK BACK TO THE LEAGUE CAMPAIGN AND REMEMBER IT WAS BANTY WHO GAVE THESE YOUNG FELLOWS THE CHANCE ,THE BUZZ LEAVING CROKE PARK LAST WEEK WAS BRILL ,AND JUST REMEMBER WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARDS WITH THESE LADS AS THEY WILL BE THE BACKBONE OF THE TEAM IN YEARS TO COME.

Does anyone know how Brian mention is? Wasn't it he who had his eyes gouged near the end of the match?

There was a picture of Bryan Menton in one of the papers after the game and he was smiling while giving the thumbs up. He could still have a problem with his eye but on face value he looked fine.

I was surprised the Sunday game didn't make more of the face grabbing by Dermot earley actually. Definitely hope Menton has recovered from it. Anyone have any ideas when paddy gilsenen is back? He was better than most in the league and now that we're playing a bit more direct ball to the inside forwards it would suit him all the more

its interesting that this hasnt been mentioned but when menton got injured and kevin reilly came on, were many people expecting this? i watched the game back and even the commentators at the time were saying we had no proper full back to bring on with reilly being out injured, and then they were surprised when reilly was actually coming on and before the match many people thought kevin wasnt even on the bench, so what happened there? did he actually have an achilles injury or was it just blisters as some people had said before? i did have a slight feeling that it was actually mind games and that he would start but when i seen he wasnt starting i thought he must have been injured but he looked ok when he came on.

Cheers tony! It is surprising that more wasn't made of that incident with mention... Pretty disgusting if you ask me... God help the person that tries to eye gouge me!...

The team I would go for is...
1. Gallagher-Kickouts looking better and good shot stopping in past 2 games
2. Keoghan- Has been brilliant since he came in and would get him to mark McMenamin as he has the pace and strenght for him
3. K.Reilly- Up there with the best FB's in the country at the moment and would get him to mark B.Brogan seeing as he did a grand job the last time
4. Mento- Good game the last day. Am guessing dublin will start with O'Gara so I would leave Mento on him
5. Tobin- Definitely looking at our next best back. Would get him to do a man-marking job on A.Brogan
6. McAnarney- His determination for the cause is sensational. Also great at breaking up attacks and setting up ours.
7 Burke- Will need an even bigger game next time because he is our hardy back to get stuck in and not give dublin an inch
8 Gillespie- Improving with every game. Will be harder this time with cluxtons kick-outs
9 Meade- Will give him 20 mins to prove he can keep up with dublins kick-outs tactic. if not then bring in Byrne
10- Fordey- His pace and strength will be vital to run at the dublin defence to get scores and win frees
11. Carroll- Was brilliant the last day and will need another big game. His shooting is improving when under pressure. Buts its his vision and getting the other forwards into the game which is his main attribute
12 Biggy- Is our main player this year. Was getting fouled off the ball last game cynically which I would expect to happen again but hopefully gets into it and kicks the points we need
13 Farrell- In the form of his life at the moment. Need more runs though when we counter attacking and his frees need to improve especially when the hill trying to put him off
14 Joe- Same as last game get out in front use his strength and either take his score our lay off to the lads running off him.
15-Ward/Bray- Both are well capable to do a job. Were Bray will probably score more and better at running defences to win frees and also better at frees with his left foot. But Wardy will bring in all of the forwards and drops back into mid-field to start the attacks. So its hard to know who to go for

The 5 subs-
17. Harrington- Should be the first back in as he showed the last day he still has it after being out a while
18. Byrne- 3 goals in 2 games speaks for itself. Would like to bring him on in the 40th/45th minute to run at the dublin defence and get the scores or win the frees
19. Bray/Ward- Whichever one starts either one of them is well capable to fill the impact sub role
20. Queeny- 6 points from coming of the bench speaks for itself. Would bring him on with 10/15 minutes left to kick the scores
21. Collins- Would be last choice but fills the role that Fordey and Carroll do.

I'm confident we can win once we dont get ahead of ourselves and stick to what we have been doing! IN BANTY WE TRUST!

Good mixture of teams there, but where is Paddy Gilsenan. I know he got injured but how bad is itand will he be available for the final. I personally think a fit Paddy Gilsenan would light up Croker.

Fair post ziggy. Only one change that I'd make is and ill be shot for saying this. I'd start ward ahead of bray. Now ok stephen is going to score more than cian but farrell is taking up the slack. Cians outfield play is mostly why he isn't scoring. And he is doing trojan work out there and totally confusing opposition. Now stephen is more a forward forward if you get what I mean. Also and ok the league is gone awhile but he tended to go for scores when other players were in better positions. Now I say this and its going to sound contradictory but with the exception of graham reilly I think stephen bray is our best player , so you make ask why am I advocating leaving him on bench? Firstly he is not upto match fitness which may be shown up v dublin. Secondly what a sub to bring on, I'd feel a lot better bray coming on than ward if things weren't going right.
Also I don't think peadar has 70 mins and him coming on is a lot better than him been subbed.

Agree 100% ward on first then bray as impact sub for exactly those reasons

I would stick with the same starting 15, with the exception of Kevin Reilly coming in for Ciaran Lenihan. I would prefer see Ward start and then half way through like the last day bring on Bray, Peader and Queeney. Ward is no good as an impact sub where as Bray is and is not up to full match fitness yet. We need his and Peaders pace to hit the dublin backs in the last 20 minutes when they are tiring.

i think paddy gilsenan maybe be fit for the dublin game, atthe training last night he hasnt doing full training or anything but his leg looked alright he was running and catching the ball and all so it cant be too bad, also graham geraghty was training with them for awhile, i dont know if that means he was just keeping himself fit or if he actually wants to have a part in playing
