justin mc mahon- best full back now and the best full back for the next 10 years... budlight (Tyrone) - Posts: 540 - 16/01/2009 10:30:53 182107 Link 0 |
ciarria abu if david moran stars at full back for kerry then sam will be staying in tyrone, too slow for full back in my opinion, o neill wouldnt give him two kicks of it or cavnagh or mulligan. dreamland lad. you might as well put the gooch in goal while your at it. bigfinger (Tyrone) - Posts: 203 - 16/01/2009 10:49:44 182120 Link 0 |
mcmahon? Why wasnt he playing there all year then? He did well against donaghy, but but might be under pressure against the likes of coulter or freeman... or mortimer TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 16/01/2009 11:12:52 182147 Link 0 |
McMahon had a great final no doubt.. I think Hanley is right up there with the best of them and I think he has more improving to do.. He was excellent on Donaghy unclegerry (Mayo) - Posts: 1223 - 16/01/2009 11:21:11 182156 Link 0 |

Big Francie surely was over this whole decade - very traditional, at the min probably Barry Owens for all round ability etc. If Cormac Mc Annalan was still here, i would say we would all be saying him.. R.I.P Cormac Brolly (Monaghan) - Posts: 4472 - 16/01/2009 13:44:33 182279 Link 0 |
Finian Hanley would not lace Gary Faheys boots he was a lot better full back than him and never got the credit he deserved but finian is the best we have at the moment. at the moment Barry Owen's is the best full back in the country followed closley by Canty pumakings (Galway) - Posts: 37 - 16/01/2009 15:04:32 182375 Link 0 |

Hanley is a good prospect alright, but we have people saying he's the best full-back in the country just because of the way he marked Donaghy. A bit premature I think, and that was one game. In our game vs Kerry in 07, JP Mone held Donaghy scoreless(possibly the first to do so after his breakthrough?), and I never thought of lauding him as the best no. 3 in the country. A year later Donaghy gave JP horrid time in the next game. If Hanley can keep that level of performance consistent over many such big encounters then he'll be up there, but not after a one-off. mid-mon man (Monaghan) - Posts: 1680 - 16/01/2009 15:30:23 182410 Link 0 |

A lot of people naming the usually few, Canty (not even a full-back), Fay (retired), Owens (injured for the last eternity), etc. Kevin O'Neill from Kildare is a great full-back and in my humble opinion, the best around at the moment. McMahon is not too bad too, but he has good players around him so he is normally seen in a better light. Another good full-back who has gone unmentioned is John McKeon from Leitrim. As good as Seamus Quinn if not better. Colin Goss is not too bad either. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 16/01/2009 19:25:40 182638 Link 0 |
