Few clubs in Navan, O'Mahonys are in centre of the town, right beside Pairc Tailteann the stadium you played Meath in the minros in, but it would be very hard to break into their first team for another couple of years, have 4 or 5 Meath seniors and are probably the most recognised club in the county, previous minors from a couple of years ago, Sean Keating srings to mind, haven't been able to get into the first team and he was a main player in Meath winning the minor Leinster title 2 years ago.

Otherwise, there is Simonstown who are just outside Navan, also senior, Shane O'Rourke and Seamus Kenny play for these. Great setup there, clubhouse and facilities wise and it might be easier to make their first team next year

Other than that, Walterstown, Bective and Seneschalstown aren't too far away either

In the O Mahonies there would be loads of competition for places but it would be well worth your while coming to us and challenging yourself. Its extremely centrally located also and the facilities are pretty good also although admittedly not as good as Simonstowns.

Rathkenny is a bit far away from the town and you would probably get lost on the way out!!

Wolfe Tones as well as O'Mahony's and Simonstown - Simonstown being the ones performing the poorest of the 3 lately.

You 3 big clubs there but you have a couple outside also like Walterstown and Senchelstown who you might get into the sides a little quicker.

You really shouldn't have any problem getting onto O'Mahonies Senior side. They are all hyped up about themselves but they have a good manager who would recognise a good player fairly soon. If it's success you want then I would suggest Wolfe Tones. If it's tradition then you would have to take the long trek out to Skryne. If it's for fun it would have to be the Wood (North Meath Man is a howl). If it's a possibility of an up and coming team I would suggest Ultans but they're not Senior yet. If you will be living in Johnstown then your local club will in fact be Walterstown. Other than that I would just stay with your Louth club and travel over and back

You should join Simonstown. They have a lot of good young players coming through and have the best facilities in Ireland. They are hungry for success but are serious under achievers. They recntly lost 2 county finals and are in a process of rebuilding at the moment. They are short a few good players from winning it. If your good enough there is places up for grabs.

Wolfe Tones or Skryne would be the pick of the teams outside the town, both are well organised, play good football and are full of young players. Skryne's early exit this year might be a blessing in disguise for 09, Tones will go close again this year, as always.

The real Ard Ri I do not know where you are getting your facts from but the club with most tradition in Meath (if you mean winning senior championships ) is NOM - I think the have many more thant he no.2!! Anyway there are lots of good clubs in the county and in the town of Navan. From a history prospective/tradition prospective the town of Navan has I think over 33 senior championships - I stand to be corrected. However, the past may not always reflect the future!

This is the problem with footballers these days. Stay with your club in Louth. It's not as if you are moving to Cork or Donegal. Either you play for a junior/intermediate club or have had a falling out with your senior club. I wonder how many Meath club footballers would transfer to a Louth club if they were living in Louth, not too many methinks. Anyway alot of club footballers in Meath travel at least an hour each way from work to traning sessions.

What I mean by tradition is a club that goes back with some success more than others. Skryne went Senior in 1938 (as far as I know) and have been Senior since. That's seventy years unbroken at Senior level. Now that's tradition. NOM on the other hand were only formed in the fifties and as recently as 5 years ago they were only an Intermediate club. I think most neutrals in the county would say that Skryne are the most traditional club in the county.
