Pairc Tailteann and County Grounds

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

This idea of a joint stadium along the m50 can never be let gather any headway. It will only lead to a monopolisation of gaelic facilities in the capital along with destroying pride of place.
The gaa is built on pride in ones area (and mainly County) shared grounds will eradicate a fundemental part of the game.

Agree 100%, the idea of Meath "sharing" a stadium with others is a totally abhorrent notion in my opinion, I sincerely hope that silly idea never gathers momentum

Ok so I am back to this again.. just read on the main page that Ruislip is going to get a revamp..

I am fully for London getting adequate grounds to the one thats there which is like a club ground but surely money should get distributed for the benefit of established grounds

Our problem is our county board. Croke Park don't want to give Meath money if they can't trust the board. The whole 100k hidden debt didn't exactly look great on our part.

It's just a shame we can't replace the stand with one similar to Tullamores and have a terrace behind the o'mahoney's goal. That's all we need and the terrace along the side is fine and will be for a long time. The grass bank down the other end can stay the way it is. no need to redevelop it.

It's a real shame as the current county ground definitely puts people off going to games.

Agreed.. a compact adequate stadium is whats needed. Top facilities for patrons. However I believe a good case for expansion lies at the bank on yhe hospital end.. quite a nice bit of space there.
O Mahonys side will be contained enough.

Most ddefinitely what is needed is a full seated covered stand with bucket seats. Incorporated press box. Presentation area. Dugouts. Along with tuck shop/ fast food/ beverage stand. Toilets. Even a county clothing shop could do well there selling jerseys and county kits.

The plans are on line they are just a teaser tho. There is nothing concrete - pun intended- as of yet and the more it carries on the more we will fall behind. The more fixtures meath will lose out on etc

I would love nothing more then going to see meath in a first/ second round leinster champion ship game in PT

Agree Jack, the debacle with the 100k hidden debt didnt help our cause, not exactly sure what was going on, but suffice to say, PT is gradually rotting away...and an embarrassment!

Nothing will happen till at least we're in the big leagues . We need revenue from big games . So it'll b at least 2 years plus 2 years construction . Nothing to do with present cb , the money was spent foolishly on dunganny and a shoddy Excuse that is the aras out the back .

Then whats wrong with outside investment... its not all doom and gloom. Surely Tayto could foot some money for end terracing in return for advertising??

Then. As said by another poster earlier.. let fans/supporters donate and fundraise.. a bit of momentum and effort could be rewarded by HQ..

Judging by the article on the Main and Meath page we may be about to see some progress on this front and with Dunganny, here's hoping

I would have thought the same about the stand but the idea of developing dressing rooms, medical rooms and broadcast area etc on the terrace is good to see, means players and officials etc will benefit from new facilities even before a new stand is put in place

A fully stocked Gym, video analysis room, changing rooms etc are a must in Dunganny IMO Good to see progress, if it took them this long to make a video about it, it will be interesting to see if the timelines can be adhered to.
Like the wait for more qualified full time coaches in primary schools I wont be holding my breath!

Just also to add, if you take a trip down to Ennis to see Liam McCarthy you will notice where a tight budget has been spent and it definitely wasnt on the county grounds.

Not to optimistic. And can I ask who's bright idea it wast to put . The minister for e voting machines in charge of this? Yeah that was a great success.
Anyway with all my heart I hope this goes to plan in a timely fashion.

Clubs were given a series of options earlier in the year as to what to do in relation to developing Dunganny or Pairc Tailteann.

The plans as announced last night will have come from recommendations from the clubs so for anybody giving out about what has been decided, if you were involved in your club you could have had a say, if not put up with it and get over yourself.

All fine and dandy proposals but where is the money coming from. Will the clubs be levied? Clubs themselves are struggling to keep their own facilities in order.

Jackhackett firstly I have no involvement with any club Meath and haven't for number of years as I don't live in county. But I travel one hell of a distance to sit on a cold wet wooden seat on sat nights in Jan and Feb March to watch Meath play I O'Byrne or league . I'm a member of supporters club and current season ticket holders and neither body was asked for input. So yeah I'm going to disagree with it and cause I'm not in Meath club makes not one iota of difference.
Do you not remember that same guy outside a building saying the IMF were not coming into Ireland while same time they in his department auditing the accounts.
It was as good as comical ally saying the u s army werennot in Baghdad while the tanks rolled by behind him . It shows one of two things , incompetence or lying. Neither a quality befitting this position. I am more dismayed than I have been regarding our county grounds. As I said I hope all of these plans are put into action as soon as possible. I wouldn't mind paying a levy on tickets to secure this as I'm sure many wouldn't or a 1k to buy a seat in new stand . Something anything. And one final thing has this group spoken to tayto to offer them name on ground tayto pairc ? Come on marketing dream in return for funding.

More importantly did anyone ever find out how we ended up with more debt than was reported at last Convention leading us to be in the bad books with Croke Park and therefore having funding held up??? I think us paying supporters are entitled to know about every cent of debt just as we are entitled to a decent county ground

You wont find out with the same click still at the helm.
Everyone in the know knew something not right was going on.
Parc Tailteann should have been upgraded years ago with the success and sponsorship ye had with Kepak etc.

But as someone once said, who the hell am I to post anything about Meath gaa....!!!!! :o)
