As I have said in another post the time has come to start delivering so with hope in my heart I predict a very narrow win. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 02/02/2012 18:29:56 1104461 Link 0 |
Can see a low-scoring game ,we need to play Graham Reilly wing-forward where he has more space ,the midfield always worries me and the centre of the half-back line seems to go walkabout. Can see us winning this, but making a meal of it. Would like to see more direct ball(but not in isolation),get the two corner forwards working with the full-forward closely. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 02/02/2012 18:59:55 1104480 Link 0 |

I expect that this team will struggle to survive in Div 2 this year. Kildare, Tyrone, Derry, are clearly much better than us, and I think Galway and Monaghan are better too. Only Louth seem destined for Div 3 on current form, but it is not clear that we are guaranteed a win against anybody else, not even Westmeath. Overall Meath are currently a poor enough side, destined to continue to languish in the lower reaches of Div 2 if not Div 3 (where they should have been sent to last year). The inability to create, or finish, enough point scoring opportunities, a dreadful midfield, and weak corner backs are a sure fire recipe for continued failure. As for this week I expect something like: Meath1986 (Dublin) - Posts: 247 - 02/02/2012 19:43:42 1104511 Link 0 |

Meath 1986, I'm not sure you think Galway or Monaghan might be better than us. We might be no good ourselves but neither of those teams are any great shakes either. Derry and Tyrone are ordinary outfits too. Like ourselves, both are going through a phase of putting a team together to challenge in a year or two. Kildare are the standout team in Division 2, the rest have lots to prove. Of course, one or two of the other seven will put together a good sequence of wins in the League but I'd fancy none of the rest them to do it no more than I'd fancy Meath. It's an open division if a little on the weak side. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 02/02/2012 20:48:43 1104554 Link 0 |
Can't agree with you meath 1986. Both monaghan and galway very much in the realms of building progress and although tough games will await us in both I do feel that if we perform to anywhere near our best I think we can get wins in both. And as I have said before I pity westmeath as I do feel they will struggle as will louth. I think they both have to be favouritesa for the drop. Kildare are sure to be promoted. 2nd spot in my view is up for grabs ourselfs tyrone and derry. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 02/02/2012 21:23:11 1104585 Link 0 |

i agree with everything meath1986 says. im personally fed up looking at the basically the same set of players being used the last few years. we need fresh talent in we speed in the team and if dont introduce this we are going nowhere. just.john (Meath) - Posts: 97 - 03/02/2012 21:42:25 1105234 Link 0 |

Just.John any suggestions for new blood in the team, and who would you keep from the current panel to start come summer grahamc9897 (Meath) - Posts: 1176 - 03/02/2012 21:54:42 1105246 Link 0 |
The problem hear is I don't know if any new players are good enough? Personally I don't get to see many club games so can only go on what others post. And with the exception of davy dalton and a few others no one else seems to be mentioned. Tom walsh brought in did very well v wexford. Ok v louth and apart from one great point was absent during dcu game. So john john who would you bring in. Who should be starting that is not? royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 04/02/2012 09:40:07 1105263 Link 0 |
