Last night in Walterstown I witnessed what was probably one of the strangest decisions made by any group of Nobber selectors. They switched their mid field to full forward and moved their full forward to midfield in the second half.
They had been well on top at midfield in the first half playing against the wind and their full forward was tagging on some useful scores to keep Nobber well in contention at half time.
In the second half Moynalvey owned mid field and as a result absolutely no ball went into the Nobber full forward rendering him redundant.
This decision has to come a close second to the senior c/final in the 1980's V Summerhill where Nobber selected Gerry McEntee to play corner forward when at the time he was playing Midfield for Meath and would have been considered one of the best midfielders in the country.
Rumor has it that Gerry was supposed to play a third midfield role - but the selectors forgot to tell him that.
Anyway back to last night - I don't think the Moynalvey selectors could have done a better job at nullifying the Nobber midfield than their own selector did.
Moynalvey were deserved winner in the end

Moynalvey going to need massive improovement at midfield if they are going to trouble Summerhil - cant see them troubling Gillespie & co in this position. They might suffer backlash of Summerhill defeat last night - Summerhill by 5 or 6 points.

Two good games tomorrow, i think it'll be a draw between The Tones and Simonstown although either side could sneak it and O'Mahonys should be too strong for rathkenny.

Rathkenny played well in the first half with the wind, draw at half time. O Mahonys were terrible in first half but when Darragh Smith and Shane Gillispie came on they changed the game. For Rathkenny Mackin did well marking bray and good to see Keogan back he also did well, however, they were under constant pressure in the second half.

Rathkenny were winning 5points to 4 at half-time!!In any man's terms that is not a draw match.Considering they had the wind in the first half and most of there scores were frees,I would hardly say they did well.Macken was also taken to the cleaners by Stephen Bray when the ball was pumped in.Elliott played well for Rathkenny, constant threat to the O'Mahonys back line.

Was at the game between Tones and Simonstown. Conditions were awful with a strong wind and cold blustery rain . It wasn't a game of football really with an unbelievable amount of handling and kicking mistakes due to the weather. Tones adapted to the conditions better particularly in the first half and should have won by more. Cian Ward dominated and was the main difference.

I see Bray played in the full forward line,by far his most dangerous position! Get him and Gilsenan working of Joe for the county side

Ha Ha, Im surprised to hear what he finished up with, score flatters him a bit, for the goal Mackin had won the ball well in front of him and went off soloing up the field, Rathkenny lost the ball and within a few secconds it was back down in their own net (game was over at that stage anyway). He kicked a great point from play out near the sideline in 2nd half but missed a lot of frees bad passes etc. and I dont think he took on his man once.

I admit I came in a few mins late and didnt see his first few scores. O Mahonies were terrible and clueless before they brought on Gillispie and Smith (dont know why they didnt start). Rathkenny didnt get the ball out of their half for the whole second half and with that amount of possession the Hoops should have pushed on more. They will need a much better performance than this if they are to push for the keegan cup.

Disappointed with Brian Meade in midfield too, he went missing in the 2nd half when needed most.

I think the skryne team are suffering big time this year because of injuries to key players such as mark jordan, aiden tuite and brian davis.
