I'd be very very surprised if an intermediate hurling club managed to win the senior football championship.....

I reckon if Curraha can get get out of junior this year you might see a thing similar to the Tones! Nobber could give Senior a fair oul craic this year too!

Nobber V Duleek/Bell... -Duleek/Bellewstown - Will be close but fancy D/B too have a bit too much
St Patrick's V Summerhill - Summerhill will be close, Pats going well in league but dont think they have the backs to hold Summerhill
Donaghmore/Ashbourne V Moynalvey - Donaghmore/Ashbourne my banker of the week. Moynalvey are as poor a team to get promoted as ive seen, their lucky there is no relegation

Dunboyne V Dunshaughlin - Dunboyne- Strong and Powerful, could be an outside bet for the championship if they have their heads right! Moran Robinson and Waters are as good as their is in the championship
Wolfe Tones V Walterstown - Wolfe Tones Should have too much for Walterstown
Skryne V Simonstown - Skryne Giles vision will probably be the difference but if S O Rourke is back could put a different perspective on things

O'Mahonys V Oldcastle - O Mahonys oldcastle will struggle with Paddy Gilsenan but shouldnt be too much in it
Blackhall Gaels V Seneschalstown - Seneschaltown - Should have too much firepower, if brian sherdian stays in full forward then he will rack up a serious score, In my opinion hes the best footballer of all the sherdians

First Round.

What fixture will be the center peice of the first round. For me Summerhill v St Patricks. Could be a great match. I fancy the Pats by four points. Hopefully Refs wont be out to make names for themselves and let the football shine through.

Does anyone else think that its just ridiculous to be playing championship matches the week after the NFL?? It kills teams with county representatives and clubs with lads doing exams. Boylan was right years ago - our championship is too long and meaningless. i'd have run the leagues off and start the championship in Augsut/September like every other county and when lads have had a chance to get over the NFL hangover, rahter than let them out to run with their clubs for a few weeks, send them back the county and break the whole thing up. We must be the only county in the country starting championship now

Clearly we have to rip up the whole way we do things - starting with the championship format. Lads - its starts in April and we'll still be messing around in September (even if wicklow dump us out of leinster). Too many flat and meaningless games - crowds will be brutal this weekend

What are your predictions for the weekend?

St Peter's Dunboyne v Dunshaughlin

Nobber v Duleek Bellewstown

O'Mahonys v Oldcastle

Wolfe Tones v Walterstown

Skryne v Simonstown

St Patrick's v Summerhill

Any word on any notable players missing for the teams in action this weekend?

Walterstown are 3/1 to beat Wolfe Tones in Rathkenny. Looks good to me.

dunboyne 3.13 dunshaughlin 8 points last night. surprising result some might say but dunboyne totally deserved it. tight 1st half dunboyne scored a goal straight from the throw up prob 8 seconds id say. smashing finish by their no 11 who roasted caomhin king all game. as good as ul c all yr id say! dunshaughlin 2pts up at half time dunboyne came out and held dunshaughlin scoreless in the 2nd half and totally blew them away.cant c either team being in the shake up at the end of the yr but still an impressive performance from dunboyne.

To be honest Dunshaughlin over-achieved last year, they could go full circle the other way this year, although they should not be getting destroyed by Dunboyne..

I'm gonna go for Blackhall Gaels to surprise Senchelstown this week..
