Very difficult for Summerhill to repeat last years success but the thing is... they're young enough and fit enough to put back-to-back senior titles together. Meath SFC's such a lottery though.

Thought Pats were the unluckiest team last year, in pole position to qualify going into the last round, but with the bye, got overtaken and dumped out. Now that the new format was approved last night there'll be no such bye weeks going forward. In fact, there'll be no such thing as a bye or a free weekend, or any weekend without some form of football, especially for Div 4 teams.....15 rounds of League....

Tipping O'Mahonys in the senior is like tipping Kells in the intermediate...

The Meath SFC is far from a lottery!! The best team in Meath always wins it, every year. There are a handful of class teams, and then the rest are not quite up there yet, a bit like the English Prem.
It will be one of Summerhill, NOM, Tones, Skryne or Seneschalstown to win it. Second tier would be Dunshaughlin, D/Ash, Dunboyne, Pats & Blackhall. The rest will be fighting relegation, which becomes a very interesting championship in itself.

Whatever about them winning the SFC, it would be one hell of an achievment if they managed to get relegated this year of all years. In fact, I be totally amazed if they were relegated. Cant see it at all......

How interesting do you really expect this years relegation to be? Seriously?
Personally I cant see it generating much interest at all. A bit of a non runner I think.

Jinxie, Relegation will be really interesting this year because if there is any, the county board will in for some right abuse here after saying that there wont be any!

Yeah Jinxie you are a sharp edge arent you? A real smart a**. You know what I meant. I was referring to the current trend and the way the SFC has unfolded over the past few years. Yes this year there may not be an actual relegation, but what I'm saying is there is a bit of a divide between contenders and also rans, and who I predict will be in those divides.

Yeah I know what you meant alright.

Your close enough with the divide but alot depends on the draw.
3 or 4 of those teams in that first group end up in the same group and it totally changes the landscape.

hard to say who'll win it but as far as relegation goes they should have had a playoff between the worst senior team and the losing intermediate finalists...would have made for a great game and a bit more interesting than just no relegation which will inevitably make a lot of games uncompetitive between teams that dont have a chance of qualifying in the last rounds

rathkenny to go down? pretty outrageous comment to say the least ... what do you base this on? new management with new ideas and a defence that is equal to any other team in the championship

hon the rats, agree that i couldnt see you's going down and to land a manager with tony kearneys experience is some coup for yee.. but you's dont have a defence that would match the best in the county BUT THE ONE THING YOU'S DO HAVE THAT OTHER TEAMS DONT HAVE IS TERRIFIC TEAM SPIRIT AND NEVER SAY DIE ATTITUDE AND THATS WHAT WIN YEE GAMES. YOU HAVE A FEW V.GOOD PLAYERS AND THE REST MAKE UP FOR IT IN DETERMINATION AND DOGGIDNESS. thats a fact.. IF YOU'S HAD A FEW INJURIES YOU'S WOULD STRUGGLE.. TONY KEARNEY WILL GET THE BEST OUT OF YOU'S AND ON YOUR DAY WILL CAUSE SOME TROUBLE LIKE AGAINST DON ASH IN THE FIRST ROUND LAST YR

isTHIS4real a man who talks sense, tony kearney has a idea of what he is doing and dealing with (which is less than can be said of his predecessors ). i dont see how people have rathkenny down for relegation every year ... when you have teams like Nobber, Duleek/Bellewstown and Walterstown still about
