Royality ,rugby they name the team well ahead , this is not soccer where they play up to twice a week for 35/40 weeks a year and get paid . The supporters are as much a part of a team as the management and the players themselves and if u think inanyway different then dont go to a game .what has banty to hide ,it wont matter whats on paper its on the grass that settles it .

If this was a championship game I would expect us to win comfortably.

Banty's mind-games XD He's a master of psychological warfare, didn't you know?

As regards McGeeney, Paul Grimley was heavily involved as trainer and worked on Kildare's forward play for two years before moving on and that really helped McGeeney adjust to intercounty management. Kildare struggled a little after his departure but McGeeney's a driven man like few in football. If Geraghty has managerial ambitions why not look to work with the underage teams or a schools team? I hope McEntee enjoys some success with the minors, or at least enough that he becomes a serious candidate for senior manager. Harnan would lay down the law but he's a bit too old school for me. If McEntee had Sean Kelly or Dudley Farrell alongside him I think he could rejuvenate the Meath football team and bring the hunger back.

We'll beat Monaghan. If the lads are not fired up for this one (and Banty has beef with his old county), then we'll know just how much influence he has in the dressing room. Could be a foul-ridden game, hope it's not. An Mhi abu!

it will be a close game between the 2 teams. I can see it been a bloody battle in which will be a interesting game in the middle of the field if banty can play his cards right he will pull the cat out of the bag and get the a good result. He and the team will be thinking of taking it game by game thats ok if the backs are on form.
Cant wait for game/league to begin will be interesting to see where they finish up...

lads this is going to be a tough game for us. i'll admit i havent a clue about monaghan this year because its too early to tell, but they'll come to us with physical pressence and give us a good game, they'll be royaled up for this because banty is a monaghan man. what meath team will turn up?? i dont know!! against DCU they had a chance to play kildare or dublin in the next round this is some incentive and they were a disgrace at HOME..

in regards to ollie99,i agree with you.. harnan is too old school, id like to see mcentee more involved and damien sheridan

Agree with Ollie,Harnan is too old school,I agree with your points on McEntee ,Sean Kelly and Dudley Farrell, all good coaches,Kelly seemed to get it right at O'Mahony's.

Pukefootball. Don't see where you get your logic from. We are no world beaters by any means but then neither are monaghan. In actual fact I think we are a fair bit ahead of yous at min

I get my logic from Monaghan playing divison 1 football last season where they played fairly well in most games while Meath were lucky not 2 get relegated, don't think Meath have improved much since, maybe you's will prove me wrong tomorrow night just hope it's a good game either way.

To be fair he makes good points,if you where to compare to the championship, yes you would say a Meath win,but Meath never perform with anything close to the intensity of the championship in the league so.. I mean Antrim beat us last year in the league,I am sure if we met them in the summer we would beat them..
This is the league and where Meath must win their first two games (Monaghan and Westmeath) to have any chance of promotion,I can see us winning one and losing one, likely the defeat will be in Westmeath, because our attitude is terrible on the road in the league

Ziggy agreement again on away games but we are very luck as our first away game is against wmeath and although all the success of garrycastle would suggest wmeath on way up. However the county team is in total disarray. I actually can't see them winning a game this year at all. And I predict that meath will have a convincing victory in mgar as I believe all other teams will have 2. Its sad to say that about any county but despite very good players and clubs in county (our own gg involved in one of them past couple years) the county team are not at races. Needs total turn around

I hope you are right but I have seen horrible displays on the road against teams the level of Westmeath(possibly worse).just can't get up for away games at all,but there is no doubt we SHOULD be winning our first two games. How we do in the league will very much depend on the first two games..

I take it bantys leaving it til the last minute again to name his team? Why does he do this?Kerry named theirs yesterday. Why can we not do the same.

Will it make a difference to the result for Kerry that they've named their team early?
Doubt it.

Maybe there are knocks, anyway when a team is named early it's rarely the team that starts, although I would like to know if Big Joe,and Cian are back..

Pukefootball has a point, Monaghan playing in division 1 last year will stand to them and the drive the players will have to get one over on Banty will be a motivator in the Monaghan dressing room.

However Meaths forwards I think will be too much for Monaghan to handle and I predict a 3-12 to 13 points win for Meath

Yeah ziggy I do know where you coming from with away form lately tipp antrim just 2 examples. But I seriously think no team should be worried about westmeath this year as I predict they would even be far behind tipp or antrim. That may sound hard to believe but its true plus they are without garrycastle players too. I actually think even the louth team that we beat in obyrne will have a easy win against them this weekend they are really in disarray
