Just to say I agree mainly with thickandtins team with one exception. I would swop Big Joe with Meado. I like the makeup of the rest of the team,
youth with experience.

Brian Meade at Full foward is just idea i had with as i think we need to find foward till Shane O'Rourke comes back from injury and I suppose we could Eoin Reilly there if we needed to and see how that works of for us plus there are other players to be given ago like Mickey Newman Mark Collins Ciaran Ellis and what about Alan Nestor giving of o these players ago will us to free up Joe and allow move into full foward and there possibly other players that i am forgettiing about we need to bring Peadar Byrne as he will some steel and toughness to the Meath panel and foward line

id go with
1.gallagher
2.mickey burke
3.kevin reilly
4.bryan menton
5.gary o'brien
6.shane mac
7.chris o'conner
8.conor gillespie
9. mark ward
10.donnacha tobin
11.tom walsh
12. graham reilly
13.cian ward
14. joe sheridan
15. paddy gilseanan

i agree with whats been said about biggie playing chf it doesnt suit him because hes bottled up as soon as he gets the ball.we need a free taker in the team so id play cian ward and i reckon tom walsh is more mobile for out around mid field as a third midfielder than brian meade.

Just a few things there ThickandTin

Peader Byrne & Mickey Newman, are either actually on the panel?
As for waiting for Shane O'Rourke to come back for Full Forward, I think the place for him is midfield, and its something that needs to be worked on to build and mould him into a top midfielder.

Big call dropping Seamus Kenny. Unusual choice to see our captain not able to make a team the Conor Gillespie can make.

I think Banty is going to get the blame for something he has no control over the bottom line is we just dont have the players at the moment .I think we are miles of the pace . We have no set fullback line we have no halfback line we have the worst midfield Meath ever had and nearly all our forwards lack pace .I realy dont think any of our players would get on the Dublin or Kerry team .I am shocked already this year at a few players that are still even on the panel who over the last couple of years have shown that they are not up to it .After speeking to a former All-Ireland Meath Captain recently he recons that the players arent in the county are things realy this bad its not that long ago teams feared meeting us there is not a team in Lenister that fear us at the moment !! WELL MAYBE LOUTH ???

Cannot agree with you there mmc. Cian shane seamus biggy and joe on there day would make any team in country. Now consistency is the key in my view and certainly we lack that. But I can assure you a lot of teams are still afraid of us dublin in 10? For starters. Also I am sick of nameless former players giving the current players stick. Offer there experience and advice to team training by all means. I don't think this team is as far off as some might think or wish. 5 years 2 all ire semis a leinster. The bones of that team are still there and in my view will come good this year.

Royal Dunne, last year Cian Ward and Graham Reilly could not make a Meath team which was knocked out in Round 3 of the qualifiers. How on earth could they make any county team when they aren't even sure of their place on the Meath team?

Lads, this notion that we have a team of thoroughbred footballers who are going to turn it on all of a sudden is delusional. Meath are a borderline top 10 team. But we're way behind the best. We're equally as likely to lose to any of the 10 teams below us as we are to beat any of the those ahead us.

My prediction for 2012 is that we'll have an alright league. Looking at the thew new teams in the division: Galway, Louth, Westmeath, Monaghan, it's certainly not unrealistic to expect us to be beating all these teams. I'll allow us one loss against one of that four which leaves us with six points. Derry and Tyrone are no world beaters either and if we're optimistic, we might put in a spirited display against Kildare. So two points from those three games would put us on eight altogether. Safety guaranteed but probably not good enough to make the final.

@ mightymhi why is shane mcanarney not in your team, arguably meaths best player last year and you would put brian menton there instead, thats a bit crazy

Nothing against him just feel Menton offers more of a presence at chb shane cud come in at wing half back if mcguinees doesnt pick up form

How can you leave Meaths best player out of the team, Davy Dalton isnt on the panel, Shane O'Rourke is injured for most of the league and Mark Collins wasnt given a look in during the O'Byrne Cup so i cant see him starting.

Some of the above posts have mentioned Mention at corner back and Meade at full forrward, as well as dropping Kenny and MaAnarney. All of which I think would be foolish. If all fit I would like to see this Meath team take the field in first championship game
Gallagher
O'Brien Reilly Burke
MaAnarney McGuinness Lennihan
Menton O'Rourke
Kenny Sherridan Reilly
Bray Ward Gilsenan

Old fashioned full forward line with Bray given the option to move into half forward line if necessary.
