Seamus Kenny at DE?!! and Gilsenan at receiver? These boys were made for the safety position there super quick!!
Sham/Paeder Bryne at SS and Paddy at FS. Also Mickey Burke actually looks like a linebacker he could easily slot in there at MLB with Menton and McGuinness OLB's...
There is no inter-county footballer who could play O-Line or DT/E's!! Just dont have the ehm... physique for those positions. You'd want your tightest marking lads playing the corners and I really cant think of anyone in particular O'Brien and Harro mabye Lenehan?

I believe that he suspects that a request by a sport of our old Imperial foes 'the Brits', such as soccer or rugby to be played in PT would be turned down.

Either way - I'm sure the County Board have received special sanction from Central Council, if not they might give the good men of Nemo Rangers & Faythe Harriers a call and see what their experiences of hosting foreign sports is.

Firstly, Have Navan cosmos or Pkvilla or the rugby club looked for the use of the ground in the first place.

And is it the Co Board who are behind this game being played here? There obviously has to be clearance from hq for this, so its not like the co board just decided that we'll ring the yanks and ask them to play a game here.

Its also not the co board who decided that soccer or rugby is allowed in PT. Thats another decision that has came from croke park.

I think its wrong to brand the co board as hypocritical when most of the decisions in relation to this are made elsewhere.

Ok Jinxie perhaps it is HQ who are hypocritical. I have no burning desire to see soccer or rugby in PT all I am asking is, is there a consistant approach when deciding what sports can or cant play on GAA grounds and if not why?

I know what your saying. A lot of it is dated rules which are still enforced.
Id like to think the Meath co Board would be accomodating where possible when it comes local clubs around (irregardless of code) and not create a bad relationship or devide.
The ground thing is something that I cant see HQ relenting on, and is made worse by the fact that the gave the green light to soccer and rugby in croke park, then came down heavily on club in cork for letting the irfu use their ground

As for the reason PT was selected for this, I can only imagine it was to do with being able to take approx 20k and proximity to dublin that was a factor and it pretty much became the obvious choice. (thats assuming that its the GAA that these GIFT guys are in talks with)

Great to get some extra revenue. Do we actually have a plan for the stadium, like a final vision of it or will it be just thrown together bit by bit whenever the money is available.

The reason I'm saying is that if the county board could actually put a plan together showing what we are working towards it might actually give incentive to help in fund raising.

Put something out there, stating this is our goal to have PT looking like a modern stadium with all the comforts and facilities expected by 2018. We believe we can achieve this with your help.

Also it would be good to tell the supporters and would be fundraisers that This is YOUR stadium for YOUR county.


I think something akin to Britannia Stadium, Stoke On Trent, England is achievable if we put our minds to it and work hard.
