Getting a little fed up with all this talk about Ratoath winning the Minor heard it all last year, I think Moynalvey will give them a good run for their money,

once again ratoath build themselves up for a huge let down and this year will be no different. they have great individual players who we all know of but was not convinced when they beat us in the semis.

Between that semi and the U17 final they've beat you by and aggregate of about 23 points. That'd convince me. Whether we win or lose I am hugely proud of this year's team as I was of 2010's losing finalists, 2009 semi-finalists and the 2008 team which took big scalps in division 1. either way it marks a massive improvement in Ratoath's fortunes. If nothing else these losses might give lads the hunger to stick with football and make up for disappointments. I seem to remember similar sneering of Senchalstown when they lost 3/4 U21 finals in a row. Since then they have gone on to contest 3 SFC finals winning 2.

Ratoath will have it all to do on sunday, they wont be able to handle the moynalvey forwards, all six of them are very talented and skilled. I think moynalvey backs wil find it tough but they will keep the ratoath forwards very quite.

Is it not obvious that at least 3 if not all of meathman902 bigdog222 DarranMul candyman222 DonAsh11 are the same poster? Ruining constructive debate and starting arguments between clubs. Donaghmore played all the ball for 20 minutes of the second half versus Ratoath while Ratoath showed another side to their play with brilliant defending but DA did own the ball for large spells although operating with a man less. I hope Ratoath do win on Sunday however I haven't seen Moynalvey play so I cannot give a prediction. I'm now going to stop posting until hopefully there is a more constructive argument with some of these that have also ruined the latter part of the Junior 'B' discussion and recent U21 discussion depart. May the best team win on Sunday

Lads, can you take this out to the school yard please. Pathetic juvenile claptrap. Most clubs have a golden era of underage success at some time or other. And this is not down to great coaching at U16 to Minor, it's down to a number of dedicated mentors from U8 to U12-14s that put a huge effort in over a couple of years. They generally burn out after a few years due to clubs not valuing their contributions, and not resourcing them to continue their good work. But their enthusiasm is by them burnt into the young men and women and that lasts with them through to Minor. In recent times this would have been seen at Summerhill, then Don/Ash, and now Ratoath. This success breaths complacency, so you will see these clubs go down at Minor level, only for others to rise and then fall again. The fact is that these kids don't see it, so will badger each other with silly comments. I five years it will be kids on from Bettystown and Simonstown, or whoever is dominant at that stage.

I dont see how people can say Rathoat and moynalvey are the two best teams by a mile. Moynalvey only beat Ashbourne by 1 point, hammered a very understrenght walterstown team and got hammered by Dunboyne. Isn't the beat record to me.

Have to agree with you here. not a very impressive record at all.

The 14 man ashbourne team that lost to ratoath were missing the 2 starting midfielders from the semi final win over navan, and Dunboyne can consider themselves unlucky not have made the semis, so all told its Prob been the most evenly balanced minor championship for years.

But the 2 teams that are in the final won the right to be there, and the best of luck to them.

Will ratoath hold their nerve, or will Moynalvey contonue their steady progress, either way it should be a good game.

And its about time the minor final got to be played before the senior. It should be this way every year.

always felt that, where possible, the minor final should be curtain raiser to SFC myself. Think that ideally each of the SFC, IFC and JFC finals should be the main event on any given day, rather than the curtain raiser to another final as it gives them more of a status

agree with a few posters here...moynalvey are a division 2 team and should stay a division 2 team...the way this minor championship is run is ridiculous

Pacman; What sort of rubbish is that. They won Division 2 at a canter and beat Donaghmore, Walterstown and Simonstown. Fully deserve to be where they are.

I was told at the start of the year that Moynalvy would win the div 2 and suprise people in division 1.
They have plenty of quality as shown by meath minor panelists. Great managers with great enthusiasm. Moynalvy gfc is on the up and Ratoath have more strength and depth but the hunger and form of Moynalvy is going to get them over the line.

Well done lads! Fantastic performance, especially in the second half against a gale of a wind. You could see how much it meant to them having come so close so many times before. Some brilliant points kicked in the second half by the forwards and Bobby O'Brien fully deserved his man of the match award.
Hard luck to Moynalvey. They put up a great fight but I think they ran out of steam in the final quarter.

Ratoath Minor Champions 2011! Well deserved.
