Minor Football Championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I totally agree with Mind_that_child. I have been going to underage football matches for the last 30 years and never have I seen team progress and improve as much as that Skryne team. They looked very poor in their first league game but have steadily improved game by game. When they were drawn with Moynalvey in their semi they were always going to be fighting a losing battle but for such a young team they showed great character and determination and were well in the game right up to the last 10 minutes when Moynalvey hit a few scores to kill the game off so I would fancy Skryne for the div 2 minor championship this year.

Mind That Child Skryne were beaten heavily by st Pats in a u_17 game last year so i assume that is what Julianstown Boyo is referring to.

len_10 you're spot on..at the rate that squad is improving I'd expect that group of lads to form the backbone of a future SFC winning team.
And yes I am aware of that result, I was at the game doing umpire. But that was over 18 months ago. You cant determine how a team will do in minor because of that , sure ya might as well go back to the time those young lads beat St.Pats in an U14 final..What matters is recent form..Skryne to win by 5 or 6 and go on to play Summerhill in the final in September

ratoath are surely good things for this minor championship...they have 6 or 7 players back for this championship.

yeh I exspect Ratoath to do well in div 1 shud b them an NOM in the final bu wudnt be suprised if Moynalvey do well.
In div 2 I think Trim and Summerhill to be the teams to beat while the winners of Skyrne and Clonard cud do wel aswel. Not to sure abou Clonard they were a bit unpredictable in league hammering st colmciles and duleek while losing to trim and ballinlough, think skyrne shud be strong.
In div 3 Dundery and Nobber shud be the favourites.

I believe Rathkenny will blitz division Five and have many players that should be pushing for the Meath Minors next year. Skryne will make a show of a one time good underage club. There is not a bright future in that part of the countryside.

how could you say that if you havent seen them play? skryne have some solid players but other teams in the div do aswel look at trim or summerhill! clonard have a good team so dont start bitchin about them for no reason

I'm basing my prediction on the strength of Skryne not the weakness of Clonard..Don't take it so personally!

Lads i think clonard hav to be giving alot of credit for the standard they are at (div 2) for such a small junior b club, all the teams
there in with are all senior club, these lads hav worked there way up the divisions since under 14 and deserve to be where they are
