Got very little game time at centre back which seems like his preferred position during the league and played mostly at 7.Then was picked corner back against Longford in Kilmainhamwood recently.After he was picked to play in Rosemount last Friday when the first 20 were training in Navan maybe this was the reason he has dropped himself off the panel.Is a big loss in my opinion.

Harrington injured now as well as this.. I don't think its as bad as people make it out to be. McGuinness had one great season as center back in 2009 but I havent seen him prosper since.. maybe this is the time for the new-comers to step up to the plate ala Lenehan, Menton, Mark O'Sullivan

Well if he doesn't wanna play we don't need him.. Any player who leaves the panel like that obviously is not committed enough,it's not the first ti,e he done that either,I would rather give the shirt to somebody who wants it..

He will be a loss. Had a great year in 2009 but injuries restricted his game time last year and he hasn't really managed to push on since. Surprised that he saw so little action this year to be honest and playing corner back for the "reserves" last Friday was probably the last straw for him.

Massive loss in cormac mc guinness. best center back in meath. if meath get bet sunday week there will be people saying the same here saying he should come back. the whole thing is turning into a farce since geraghty came back.

I heard he is doing shift work in the mines and is finding it hard to commit fully to training and matches. He's not getting proper sleep and rest. I think its a bit unfair of people to be jumping on his back without knowing the facts. He would be a big loss if he does leave but I know from personal experience how hard it can be to juggle awkward working hours with football commitments

Now that Harrington is out there will surely be immense pressure on McGuinness to return, unless of course he is also injured. Harrington has not had much luck against Galway, collar bone broken in 2007. I know from speaking to Wolfe Tones members that he was told not to play with that club's hurlers in their opening hurling championship match last Thursday, because he might get injured. Now not only do Meath have to do without him but WT are without their best player in both football and hurling for most of the season. It used to be a matter of pride having a player on the county team. Now it is the greatest liability there is. Some poster from O'Mahonies, think it was James T, said this some years back and was ridiculed. With all that has gone on with the minors, and now club hurlers, do posters now agree that it is not in the best interest of any club to have a member selected for the county.

i dont think he will be that big a loss , have seen him for club and county this year and he looks tired , Working full time and trying to commit to the training that the current meath management are renound for would be very very difficult , Cormac is a fantactic footballer but looks jaded and most importantly looks like he is not enjoying his football at all and when your not enjoying it it becomes almost like another job so best of luck to him hope he will come back stronger and better

He kicked the ball that the Laois goalie dropped at Croke Park. Had we not got that goal we would have lost that day for certain. No replay required and no Leinster title either. Some people have short memories. If you have a hectic day job (work life), it is only worth the effort if you're in the team or at least very much part of a manager's plans.

Fair enough if Mc Guinness is unable to fit in training with his work commitments but surely if he felt that he would be starting and was very much part of Bantys plans he would not be stepping down.On the other issue it was interesting that Micky Burke missed his clubs hurling championship match on Friday night when he was called up to play in Rosemount with the footballers .Again fair enough as he would want to do everything possible to reclaim his place on the championship squad but surely his club shouln't have to do without him.The Ard Ri's point is valid and there are plenty of clubs around the county who suffer by having their players away on county squads.Especially guys who have no chance of making first teams and miss training and league matches with their clubs.It is also true that O Mahonys suffered for having so many guys on the Meath panel over the past couple of years.Wasn't it last year that they had to play an important championship match against Duleek/Bellewstown the week after Meath went out of the championship.Surely they deserved more time after been away from their club for so long.It is a great honour for clubs to have several representatives on the county team and panel but it is true that the clubs sometimes suffer which is wrong.

He hoofed a ball up in the air, which the goalie made a complete mess of and dropped into the net. It was blind luck, nothing more.
