NFL v Laois

Mc Gill is not the best corner back as "Brian" puts it. He is not on the team as he is not good enough, fact. Look at football with your blinkers off

Have to agree with most of posters im baffeld with most of this team, Mark Ward has had more chances den any other player i can remember, Gary o Brien is natural half back, King is not a corner back and has being a weak link for the last few years, Paddy gilsenan and Mc anarney deserve another chance, Dalton Lenihan, Mcgill, o connor shuld be tried as corner backs.

Banty seems to be still very much tinkering with the team but there a couple of things I'm completely against:

1. King isn't a corner back and McGill should be in there.

2. Meade is our best centre-fielder and had better be there come championship plus McGuinness is a very good player and should be left alone at centre back.

3. I don't think Shane McAnearney is really up to sctrach considering our other options.

On a different note though I feel Banty has got a few other things right with that selection, namely Murphey back in goals, giving Gilsenan another chance, O'Rourke and Sheridan playing in their most effective positions and playing Cian Ward is simply a must for his free taking. I know Ward has plenty of flaws during open play but he's worth 4 or 5 scores per game and that will be crucial come championship time.

young lads like Menton,Lenihan,Dalton,Keoghan surely could've been tried in this game...

2 of the aformentioned were playing last week v dublin and had poor games. menton was roasted by mc menamin and when keoghan came on he gave possession away very cheaply when game was in melting pot. mark ward starting again is a strange one. if people were watching game last week they would have seen gary o brien and caoimhin king as meaths best players.

Surprised at a couple of things with this Meath selection:
1) Thought O Rourke would be in nets, due to his superior kick out and also banty substituting Murphy Vs Laois in O Byrne Cup

2) Mark Ward shouldnt be starting. If Crawford is not ready to play, they should start Meade there.

3) Brian Meade centre back, the man commits too many fouls!! Was caught out badly against both Laois and Dublin in the O Byrne cup when introduced. This wont work.

4) Cian Ward hasnt really caught my eye to claim that starting place from Brian Farrell. He can feel hard done by. If it is for frees alone he is playing, i would be against that. Farrell or Graham Reilly can hit frees and are good at them to.

5) Lets hope Shane and Joe are more accurate in front of goals, and play as a team.

u say if we beat antrim in casement and all our away games it would put us in a strong position? OBVIOUSLY.
but unrealistic? we want to put a stamp on pairc tailteann as being an extremely hard place to get a result from just like fermanagh and clones or limerick and the gealic grounds! concentrate on doing well at home first.

Sorry, That was a typo on my behalf. I meant all our home games plus Laois and Antrim away.

I agree winning all those would be un realistic, but I think wins can be got in portlaois and casement, so if we remain strong at home and add those couple of away wins then we would be in a strong position.

Ah I know it will but if they have serious plans on taking steps forward and being any sort of a force then they should be quite capable of beating Antrim.

Jeez lads will ye settle down, it's the 1st wk in Feb, not June, alot will be learned in the next 4 months and the team in 1st round of league never compares to the 1st round of the cship anyway. Talk about inpatience. Next ye'l be shouting for Bantys head cos he's playing a wing back as a corner back. SHOCK HORROR!!!!
