Yeah, can remember Hanley from a few games alright. The full back too on that day, Gene Greville, he was another excellent player, think he played on U21 team, probably could have been in Meath recogning for full back but for the rock that was Darren Fay.

Some real footballers who never got the break..
Tom Halpin (St Michaels) Seen to remember Tom getting a run in the league
Martin Crosbie ( The Wood) Don't remember him playing but was worth a try in his prime
Lynch ( Ballinlough) Declan Lynch played several league matches but wasn't given a fair chance IMO. Best club footballer of his era by a mile
Finnegan ( Senchalstown) Alan got his chance allright but he didn't put the effort in.
Larry McCormack ( The Wood) Definitely got A chance
Kealys ( Dunshaughlin) Definitely got a chance. Ritchie was a decent player
Mick O dowd (skyrne) Definitely got a chance

I would second that he was a serious footballer...I remember seeing him play a couple of times and I thought he was a serious footballer; a serious man to cover ground and a great left foot. Like a lot of the good club footballers that have been mentioned in this thread; Lynch was in his prime when Meath were the best in the country and so it was very difficult to break into the team....if he was around now I think he would walk onto the Meath team.

Diego - I would agree with you and say that Lynch was an excellent footballer. The wood had some very good players who did not play county football. James T you have mentioned some players (and some of them from the NOM) who are not even good club players so I cannot see how they would be good enough for a county team

james T i will agree wit some of the o'mahoneys players you suggested, but not lee russell he is not a constant perfomer in my eyes, mark brennan a grt goalie but not county material, paddy smyth shud definetley get a run he is by far one of the best footballers on the o'mahoneys team, and WTB alan fox wud get murdered in a senior intercounty match ,a stiif breeze wud knock him over, yeah i know he has more medals than most club players an meath, but you get them when you play with a good club

How about Kevin "Jinxie" Jordan (Kells)
Best club goalkeeper in the county for the 90's
Was on the minor team in 1990, picked up a knee injury and missed out on the leinster and all ireland series when Conor Martin was moved from full forward to goalkeeper cos he'd played as a soccer keeper..
