Reading in a local newspaper this week that Eamonn O' Brien's re-appointment was challenged at the recent Co. Board meeting. Not surprisingly the Co. Committee brushed it aside and will probably stage the re-appointment of him. I have heard that a lot of the players (and some of the backroom team) are not happy with the management set up. There is sure to be unrest in the county if he is re-appointed, and from a rumour I heard that 5 or 6 or our senior players wont play next year, and crucial members of the back room team will step down( Watch this space). upmeath (Meath) - Posts: 92 - 20/08/2010 11:37:48 751271 Link 0 |

Unrest? I don't think opinion about E O'B is that one sided that we are going to face a revolution. DowdtoFoleyGoal (Meath) - Posts: 292 - 20/08/2010 12:06:14 751310 Link 0 |

I posted earlier but it was censored. I made the point that Eamonn O Brien has made no progress with this squad and has added handsomely to our recent record of dismal championship exits. Spoke to a former Meath All Ireland winning player yesterday and he would not be in favour of O Brien continuing mainly because of his dismal performance on the line in our last two games. qprmeath (None) - Posts: 434 - 20/08/2010 12:46:25 751377 Link 0 |

heard over the weekend that sean kelly will not be involved with meath next year!this is very worrying,if e o`b is in charge again next year then he will be on the look out for a 3rd trainer in 3 years. colm brady and sean kelly have had to withdraw there services due to "personal reasons" but from what i`ve heard both had problems with e o`b.it seems clear that the man is not up it,he has been a great servant to meath football but he doesnt seem to have the required character and know how for management.he was a successful selector under sean boylan but his only management job was with rathkenny, hardly an impressive c.v. for an intercounty managerial interview! thelough (Meath) - Posts: 6 - 23/08/2010 14:11:06 753631 Link 0 |

I dont think Colm Brady had a problem with EOB. From what I hear the issue was with one of the selectors. Poormouth (Meath) - Posts: 204 - 23/08/2010 18:22:47 754041 Link 0 |

I have to dash soon so i can't go too far with this post but to be blunt i don't think nor have i ever thought that O'Brien was up to this job. Personally i think he comes across very well in interviews and seems like a really nice guy but thats not what this game is all about, we need someone with a strong, hardened personality to take control. My 2 big issues with O'Brien are that i don't think he has a clue how to pick the team (especially last years) and there seems to be a complete absence of a plan B in tight games. great post by fabio capello, couldnt agree more. meath are going nowhere under o brien, they are totally clueless when a team gets a run on them, he has to go but he wont which could lead to an exodus with the players!! for the sake of meath football he should step down!! hillman2 (Meath) - Posts: 102 - 24/08/2010 17:18:11 755209 Link 0 |

I would like to see EOB step aside because there are good players in Meath not getting a chance and change of Manager would help.He and his selectors were to slow to make desicions on the line this year.If EOB is not manager next year i would go for a young manager. My choice would be Darren Fay.He has been doing well as a club coach in and and outside of Meath and if he was to be manager i would like to see Graham Geraghty brought in as selector along with Liam Harnan or Bernard Flynn and have Colm Brady as the trainer.Geraghty would bring passion to the team and are there are no better lads to look up to in Meath than Fay and Geraghty.I just hope the county Board dont dilly dally over the matter as usual. 12Royal (Meath) - Posts: 987 - 24/08/2010 18:07:44 755304 Link 0 |
