I think its fair to say that Oldcastle are being treated fairly harshly.. they struggled alright last night after playing Senchalstown off the pitch in a 6 point victory.. I think its time to put this thread to bed lads..

Noelpc...

Are you sure there'd be a playoff? Does st pats not have a superior score difference?
I thought if 2 teams were joined on points that score diffence came in to play, & if that was the case, st pats would meet nom in the final & be promoted. But I could be wrong on that, heard a few different scenarios & not sure who's right.

Yeah I think noel in right there be a playoff if Oldcastle and Pats win on Sunday. They drew the game between them which is beside the point. The deciding factor here is that Oldcastle got a walk over from Rathkenny and therefore Score Differance does not count in this suitation.

Good bit of Satire there Noel. The life and times of Struggling Sean Chaisleain {Oldcastle Abu} I take it Im right on that.

Thanks for that. Forgot that score difference didn't matter seing as there had been a walk over given.

after beating Cortown last night oldcastle into play off with st pats to see who earns promotion to div 1 and joins o'mahonys in the div 2 league final.
Considering that oldcastle played 11 game in the league and lost only 1 and drew with league leaders O'Mahonys having led them for the majority of the game would suggest that it is hardly a team that is struggling. Interesting to see that hillman2, john hanlon, sam maguire 99 and premium level have been quiet on this topic lately after starting it up.

Not sure the purpose of this tread -the quy who started it may know! Oldcastle are as good a side as any in Div 1 and I've seem them a few times over the last 2 years and I wish them well for 2011 as I do all committed teams/clubs

Like I said before, admin have closed threads for a lot less, but the mini fan club of johnhanlon, premiumlevel, hillman & sammaguire didn't want that. Suppose they just live showing their support.
Fair play to them.

Oh yes I see Oldcastle as predicted struggled over Cortown and now face another struggle with Pats for the right to play Div 1 next year.

I suppose they will struggle in the U-21 [dont we all] as they struggle to believe that they got a bye in round 1 and they will struggle over to watch Kilmainham and Blackhall struggle to earn the right to face them for another struggle. [God I love that word]

Some struggle for a struggling club I wish my club was in such a struggle.

Some people seem to be struggling to to accept the fact that a good old struggle at times is no bad thing.!!!!!

Oldcastle floped in the championship. No team from there group reached the semi finals and they still finished bottom.

In 2008 they were 60 minutes from going down to junior football but beat Ballivor so to be in the senior ranks two years later and in a play off to get Division 1 status harly represents a club who is struggling. Those grapes must be fairly sour at this stage lads.

your missing the whole point here, were talking about oldcastle this year not the team of two years ago, and the facts are that they struggled in the championship this year, you cant argue with that

Sure going by yer reckoning lads, a dozen other teams struggled by not coming out of their groups too.

Fairly pointless argument but I suppose kids will be kids!
