New! Who will win the hurling championships

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

commonsense, your team are gone out of championship. I feel bad for them because they are a good club with some great hurlers. That Moylagh game will haunt them. It is a real shame because they have been so close in the last 2 years.

I'd like to know what happened Ratoath this year? They were flying earlier on in the year in the leinster league and had an impressive win against Kilskyre in the 1st round..whats with the turnaround in fortunes? Also, whats the standard like in the other side of the draw and who will win it out?

ratoath lost a serious hurler at wing back and midfield..in the game against the tones ratoath seemed to be dominated at midfield which led to easy frees being given away..tones got 6 frees in a row and i think only missed one so indiscipline cost ratoath this year

I am not so sure about indisciple in the tones game, I think to be fair to the tones, ratoath were winning out at midfield in first half with what seemed extra men and everything was going through them. The tones closed them out in the second half and suffocated them of possesion. Great tactics by their management is how I call it. Still a great showing by ratoath and I think it will be the moylagh game that will horrify them when the year is over. They allowed moylagh bully them.

from 13 puck outs in first half ratoath won 4 so i dont see ho ratoath dominated in first half??if they did not give away all the frees ratoath would have won the game but they did and it cost them..and i dont believe moylough bullied them ratoath just didnt show on the day..if they had of played the first day they were meant to i think the game would have been completely different but moylough refused to play

iamgod, do you think that the tones will walk it now. Some very good temas on other side. Is it true that both Dunboyne and Kiltale junior teams have lost players to their senior sides. This would be an distinct advantage to the temas on the other side of the draw.

Commonsense, I think to be fair that looks doubtful. I can certainly see Moylagh beating boardsmill and Ratoath beating boardsmill also, but I certainly see Kilskyre beating Moylagh in last game. And you would have to fancy Kilskyre to win it outright then. A good side.

I also think the loss to Tones has knocked the stuffing out of Ratoath. I cant see them doing anymore in this championship. Which I think is a real shame. They are a great side and some quality hurlers who play the game as it should be played. Looking at the last two years they certainly deserve more than they have got for their efforts. I think when they eventually get out of junior ranks they will flourish against teams that want to play hurling. They have a really good number of young lads coming through as well.

Yes, the tones were junior last year. I think they lost all their games. Saw them hammered by Don Ash

I think that we are gonna see a kilskyre vs tones final. Both intermediate teams in the past and are coming good again! Kilskyre are in league semi final thisevenin its div3 yes but these games are building confidence in the team and are hitting their peak at the right time of the year.

Do you really see a tones v kilskyre final. Should be a good one if it is, and you would see Kilskyre winning out that one based on earlier game in championship.

It will be a different game altogether, both teams will have to alter their tactics a bit more the tones full back is slow and there for a roasting and it is that position that will let tones down. Kilskyre will have to cut down on the free's their defence seems water tight and if doing so will win champ out.

Dantheman, Yes I saw the tones against Boardsmill and they had a very slow full back line, but it seemed to have changed dramatically against ratoath. Ratoath played with a 2 man full forward line and the tones corner backs were well up to the pace and hurled really well. Full back had a slow start but really performed well in second half. They may have rectified the problems already.

Is it true regarding the other teams on other side of the draw that they have lost players to their senior side and they are somewhat depleted.

The Tones will be hard bet now in the championship and anyone basing thhe on last years performances only have to go through there team to see why they have stepped up a gear, the now have the two Harringtons,Donal Curtis Brian Meade Ger Farrrelly Stephen Sheppard on a more regular basis and all the mentioned are fine hurlers and would walk onto any club team in the senior grade in Meath. Bhulf Ton abu!!!!!!!!!!!!

iamurdad, you are obviously a tones man then. Well done on the year so far, great win against ratoath. I thought it was best game i have seen all year, and I have seen quite a number from senior to junior 2. A well drilled outfit by the looks of it, as were ratoath to be fair. Who is managing ye this year, because I saw ye last year and marker improvement all over the field.
