New! Who will win the hurling championships

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Great win by tones last Saturday. Absolutely blew kiltale away, they were well worth their victory, who is in charge of them this year. Some reversal in fortunes from 2009.

MINORSTAR, Havent been on since my last comment in July when i said Tones were goin to win it out, i still stand by that comment by the way, You asked back then who was the manager, dont know if you have found out since but its Frank McEvoy, think he was over the tones way back in early 90's when they were robbed in there only senior final appearence by a point!! Be a very fitting year for a certain family for the tones to win a championship too ! Bhulf Ton Abu

The manager is Offly native Frank Foy who is living in the parish for about 35 years.

Senior-kilmessan by 5pts
Junior-wolfe tones will hammer kilskyre
Junior 2-Na fainna should beat the winners of kells or trim..what odds on a 50 euro treble??

I think great credit must go to the manager of Wolfe Tones Mr. Foy. As previously stated I am a Limerick man and rather a hurling purist. What I witnessed in the Junior semi Final on Saturday would do your heart good. It was as good as the senior performances that day. There was never a dirty pull all day and some of the hurling was delightful. Best of luck to them in the final. I really hope they do it although I know Kilskyre will be tough opposition.

Trap do you really think Tones will hammer Kilskyre considering the result between the 2 teams earlier in the championship?

InTheLoop why are you so worried about what happened earlier in the year, If Kilskyre beat the tones well earlier in the year there is obviously an excuse cos tones when they have a full team would easily compete with any intermediate team, i wouldnt say an easy victory but i would say confidently that they will win! Frank Foy thats the name alright!

I was at the game between Tones and Kilskyre. Kilskyre won by a point and the Tones had a full team, they had all the meath lads. So it shud be a gud final, and it will be close.

I hope the final will be a good game, Kilskyre did beat the tones in the group game and I thought that night that the tones were awful but Kilskyre were not much better. Will the bigger pitch have any bearing on the game as their previous game was in Athboy. Have a sneaky feeling for tones...

Tones had a full team against Kilskyre that day, had numerical advantage for 15 minutes and still couldn't win..hardly the form required to hammer them now is it..
I think either team would be well able to acquit themselves well in the intermediate ranks next year

It has 2 b remembered that their is 3 clubs involved in the tones (Tones,Rathkenny andCastletown)and some players involved with Meath. Also the Tones and Rathkenny were into 1/4 and semi's of the championship. And its only since Meath went out that the tones could muster a full panel.

the bigger pitch will defo suit tones and if the "rasher muldoon" is man marked where will kilskyre scores come from??

jake1 - correction - there's 4 clubs involved with Wolfe Tones hurlers - WT, Rathkenny, Castletown and Nobber - Andrew Hayes at corner back

I think all this "tones will hammer kilskyre" is very stupid. At one stage everyone here was shouting up ratoath, saying they would walk this grade. No matter what everyone says its a different story on the pitch. It can go either way to be honest. I think the teams are very evenly matched. You can only beat whats on front of you and so far both teams have done that. Kilskyre to nip it by 2 points.

Well, as it is drawing to nearly a week before the game, any rumours out there from each camp, any injuries etc.....

The Tones may have lads from four different clubs, but Kilskyre have lads from three clubs, plus the Dub that started in goals at the start of the championship

What are the three clubs kilskyre draw from? Ballinlough provides mostly all the team!

So now the football is out of the way, what are peoples thoughts on the junior hurling final this Sunday. It looks like a well matched game with Kilskyre taking first blood in the group stages. After seeing tones v kiltale you would have to fancy them, but kilskyre beat a good hurling side also in dunboyne. Marginal win for tones?

Carnaross and Kilmainham provide players to the Kilskyre club... Don't think any of them started the last day in the semi though, so you could hardly call it an amalgamation! Should be a good couple of games on Sunday, with Kilskyre to beat the tones in a tight low scoring encounter and Kilmsessen to dethrone the champions
