Fact of the Day : Ebdon is colour blind, and the most infuriating player to watch!

I dunno, Selby looked good today, brushed Ding aside without much fuss

Yeah I heard that about Ebdon before Juan. He only really has difficulty telling the difference between the brown and the reds though, it doesn't explain why he takes an age between shots. There should be a punishment in snooker for slow play, like there is in golf - it is after all the spectators, both in the arenas and on TV, who fund the prizemoney. Ebdon ruins the game and watching him plod around the table is akin to watching paint dry.

The Premier League Snooker on Sky where there is a 25second time limit between shots is an okay idea, but I would suggest it needs refining.

He's rediculous! I assumed that the colour blindness was connected by his constant parades around the table, maybe a lack of depth perception or something similar? but he probably wouldn't have got so far in the game if that was the case (unfortunately). Totally agree that they should bring in something to stop it, the game is struggling as it is and he's not helping.

Newsflash: Fu and Ding are out

No, Ebdon's colourblindness has nothing to do with his slow play. He even slows his game down further when playing certain opponents (players such as Ronnie O'Sullivan and Tony Drago, the antithesis of the ponderous Ebdon). In a bit to wind them up his average shot time often goes over 30seconds. He has actually got slightly better recently, although he is still extremely cautious in his shot selection.

If the game of snooker is to be developed and become more popular the rules need to be changed to favour the attacking, aggressive players, and the players who are quick break-builders. The vast majority of viewers prefer to watch exciting century breaks rather than tedious tactical battles. Personally, as a fan of snooker and keen (extremely amateur) player, I appreciate the tactical safety exchanges, but feel that the game needs to change if it's to expand it's audience.

I see my local club's former number 3 beat Higgins.

I suppose Mark would be number 2 at the club now.

What a few great days snooker and what a thrilling final. O'Sullivan is unbelievable. His 2 safety shots in the final frame were out of this world and then he goes and tries an almost impossible shot with his left hand and loses.

O'Sullivan really threw that match away after leading 9-6. His break-off shots were extremely poor and cost him at least two of the frames in the last session (I didn't see the first half of the final). He made a clearance break of 92 or something like that to win his 7th or 8th frame though which was breathtaking, every second shot with the left hand, really brilliant stuff. Selby played a great match, some of his potting was unbeliveable, and to win four frames in a row vs. O'Sullivan is some going.

O'Sullivan though a great player is very ungracious in defeat,he walked off before the trophy presentation and I felt sorry for John Parrott tryin to interview him after the game.Mind you the bbc deserved it to an extent, you would swear O'Sullivan was God the way they keep goin on about him,he is a super player but no way would he hold a candle to Hendry or Davis in their prime. I was delighted to see Selby come back and wipe the smug grin from his face,O'Sullivan was clearly rattled when it came to 9-8 and Selby is a genius under pressure-great shot selection.

He is a very bad actor.

Plays the "winning" green leaning over the table left handed, and then had to miss a few other easy ones because selby could not take advantage. In the last frame Ronnie was reduced to opening up the reds and "running into the blue" on the way back to baulk to make sure Selby couldn't miss.

All of this upsets him, but then he knows the score and shouldn't be yawning as the final frame was starting.

Poor actor indeed. But simply unbeatable at snooker, the best ever by a long shot.
