meathgaaman I am not sure about the Meath team but as my post said they are 3 players who impressed me in the Intermediate Championship. The difference between a good intermediate club footballer and senior intercounty player is obviously huge so I am not sure if they would be up to the standard...but I would rate all 3 players higher than some players who have been tried out over the last couple of years.

Cormac McGill: Fair enough, he is on the panel but he is possibly one of the best defenders in the county. Kept Joe to only a point from play and won most of the ball last weekend. Couldnt get a look in this year much to my amazement.

Cormac McGill is an excellent defender and surely is going to force a start for Meath this year. Hes more physical than Harrington and King, and is a tighter marker than Moyles or Reilly. I say take a gamble next year and start this man at number 3 with Burke and Moyles either side of him. Start Kevin Reilly at 6 and have king and Harrington either side.

I echo James T's sentiments about MacGill, far more physical than Harrington and should surely start at corner back ahead of him.
And would agree with Burke being in the defence.
But this is all based on current form and god knows where players will be and what form they'll be in, although i suspect we've seen the last of Moyles (i think he had to be coaxed back this year, according to articles i read before the semi final)
But the rest of your backs are showing a bit of anti simonstown bias, as Kenny was one of our more conistent players before he was switched consistently between the half back and half forward line in place of Bray.
And you've dropped McGuinness, that's surely a strange one for you!!!!

If all were available right now, think it would read something like

O'Connor-K Reilly-MacGill
Kenny-McGuinness-Burke

There's a bit of flexibility with O'Connor and Burke's positions, two tight markers when playing an orthodox full forward line, and men who can win breaking ball and a solid spine with big men who seem to be able to put the bodies in.

Burke would be a very good corner back, was on the Sigerson All-Star team as a corner back from last year before he was even involved with Meath really so it proves he can play there. In fact, in the Sigerson final, Cork's Daniel Goulding didn't score on him from play which is a good achievement

Very interesting reading seeing Burke on the Sigerson All-Stars, as a corner-back no less? Been wondering about his best position since he made such an impact this season. A lot of people have been selecting Burke at wing-back on their fantasy line-ups but is he good enough on the ball to displace our other options out wide? He seems to get a dose of travel-sickness everytime he breaks past midfield. Surely O'Connor would be a more natural choice at right half-back?

If the rumours are true and Moyles is hanging up the boots then Burke would make an ideal 'stopper', closing down the space behind midfield as an extra half-back. Against the orthodox 3-man full-forward line by all means try him out during the league at corner-back if his college form has been that impressive. From what I've seen I just don't think he contributes much to the attack.

Maybe this, opening round of the NFL?

2.Burke 3.Reilly 4.McGill

5.McAnarney 6.McGuinness 7.O'Connor

From the evidence of their last game, no-one at all. Ash dominated them, although Shane O'Rourke scored 2 nice points

Joey is playing Junior B with Seneschalstown. Had a few decent years with the seniors and Joey is probably still the same size now as he was when he was a juvenile. He had some lovely touches and In a one-on-one suituation no better than Joey to score.
