I think this is our strongest 15, with the obvious exception of bray who's injured, the main problem i think is centre back, i wouldnt have moyles there only i dont see any other option, i dont know what they are goin to do if he isn't fit, maybe put king at 6 and play seamus kenny on d wing.

The only other doubt i have is whether to play mark ward midfield and joe full forward, but i think for the game against waterford id like to see them play ward full forward to see how he gets on...could work wonders

I see what your saying clubman, but how much would you still find out.

If ward started at ff & scored 2-10, would it mean anything, would you still be confident of playing him there the next day if we were playing derry or kerry?

That all IF we win tho...

while id be happier with ward full forward rather than king, im still not sold on the whole idea, particularly at this stage of the year, had it been at least tried during the league once, then it might give a better indication. but it was only tried in challenges. although it could work wonders if the midfield can get enough ball into tghe full forward line. did anyone hear the actual team???

True an_mhi, regardless who is at ff, the right supply of ball is vital, & that another reason why i wouldnt mind seeing Brian Sheridan at chb, as he would land balls into them all day. Great long distance passer of the ball.

i dont know about brian at chb, and the problem with all these switches is that if we hammer waterford, they'll be seen as a success, and as you said jinxie, will they work against derry or kerry?? i really feel the league is the place to be doing these things!!

yeah thats true jinxie he could be a disaster against a better team...but things arent going too well for him at midfield...taken off last year against limerick and didnt have a stormer again dublin...if the management want to try something this really is their final chance this year

A ggod p[layer can play anywhere. I trust Brian Sheridan to play at six. Hes big fast and clever. No problem. Plus he will be fairly well eased into the position against this Waterford lot will he not?

To be honest, I'm fairly pleased with that team. There seems to be a bit more shape about this team compared to the one which started against Dublin. Cormac McGuinness did well at CHB against Laois in the league and was one of the best against Dublin so I wouldn't have any problem playing him there against a tougher county than Waterford. I'm surprised to see that Mark Ward is left out, is he injured?

Well Done Eamonn O'Brien.

At last a bit of ruthlessness in team selection where it's neeed. Great to see King in the backs again as he is never a full forward - too inclined to what to lay the ball off when he gets it rather than heading for the goal like a natural forward. Great also to see McGuinness at no.6. Pity Reiily is injured and we may get away with Moyles at no.3 against Waterford but really I think he is best served at no.11. Also delighted to see Big Joe back. As I say, even though it's only Waterford I am glad to see some sort of sense coming in to team selections and I'll be headin' up Saturday night with some renewed faith in the mangement.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised that Mark Ward was left out.

We should have enough in the tank to beat Waterford (no disrespect) - I suspect Joe Sheridan will actually play at 14 with David Bray and Brian Farrell in either corner and Cian Ward on the 40

Can't wait to see the bench, a little bit scarce of quality I'd imagine

Best of luck to our neighbours and hope you beat Waterford tomorrow night

It will help to get last years defeats to Limerick and Wexford two other hurling strongholds out of your system

Fairly satisfied with that team.Would of liked to see Mark Ward play in at full forward just for this game!Good to see King back where he belongs!Overall a good team and should be a handy enough game!My prediction is for us to win by 12+!

Ah yeah, the louth supporters club are out again in force with there comments from Angle Grinder. Lets all cheer 14 Louth and a Meath man in the lenster jur final in which they play there senior players and struggle to win..I feel sorry for a county that actually boast's about such a grade of football, Id also say at least one Louth person has a bit of sence about football and thats your chairman with his comments yesterday about Louth not fit to compete at a high level.......

let the louth lads talk, come tomorrow night at least we'll still be in the championship. overall happy enough with that team, maybe a stint on the bench will do mark ward the world of good. Id still expect to see him on at some stage, along with brian sheridan.
