ALL OVER - not a case of too little to late but we did well at the end but it was far too late. A case of "what you should have been doing from the start BUT TOO LATE!!!"

But no excuses we just aren't at the races!! This was a poor Laois team and we couldn't match them.

oh real louth fan.... Laois may not be the quality team they once were. But they bossed louth all over the pitch. 11 points up and the foot came off the pedal. Laois are rebuilding and even with your extra championship game ye couldn match us. Enjoy the back door.

Just got home and time to think over todays game. Im happy enough but not completely surprised...We moved well and moved the ball quickley as was reported from how training was going. We were also well organised in a defence where new, more physical players are coming through for us but again that was somewhat expected given the big men named in the halfback line. On the flipside, we switched off at the end and the inexperience of many began to show and our intensity dipped. That cannot happen if were going to beat better teams but again it was no surprise with that many new names. So nothing surprised me really with regard to Laois (except maybe not playing Kingston into the game)

As for Louth, I was very surprised at how poor they were given all the talk I was hearing from some of the Louth posse on HS. The old heads like Hoey and Keenan are clearly the only lads worth their salt in the Louth setup...if only ye had 15 of them lads! And so, we will still have to step up and not rest on our laurels and realise that all we did was beat a poor first round Leinster team. But its still a good start...well learn from the comeback that ya cannot switch off!!

The other surprise of the day is RLFs complete inability to give an accurate account of events. Thanks so much moderator for not letting his matchtracker work too well. God knows what sort of an account the good people of HS would have gotten from this guy. RLF, we may not be AI contenders but were arite, at least show a bit of grace in defeat and give us that. We hav to meet a very good Kildare team but we are certainly capable of giving it a hell of a go. Our older lads didnt get bad overnight and our new lads are promising so although we have alot to work on and are undoubtedly underdogs, I wouldnt write us off like you seem to have. But then, today you have shown a dearth of real knowledge and analysis capability so Ill take what you say with a wee pinch of salt.

Thanks to the real Louth fans I spoke to after the game who wished us well and Well done Laois!!

Exactly my point. But good that we both get one win in Leinster before the back door - it gives us both the practice that we both badly need. See you there soon ;-)

The greatest respect in the world to you spud man but you beat a very poor Louth team and almost threw it away. I wish you all the best against Kildare and would love to see you cause a major shock in Leinster. I'll be shouting for Laois but I'm afraid I don't think you have the metal for Mc Geaney.

No team (at least not a serious team) sits back and allows the opposition come at them and drastically erode an 11 point lead and bring it down to 3 points. I would give us some credit for that and if I were in the Laois set-up I would have some stern words for the post match analysis. You should take the analysis on board and learn from it. You played and beat a poor team yet almost blew it!

I will be shouting for you against Kildare and until we meet again in the qualifiers assuming you stay in it that long!

Well spotted Corkcelt, and if I maybe so bold as to answer:
Who the hell cares!
RLF: Your dedication to the Wee County is an inspiration to us all. May I humbly suggest that this thread is the literary equivalent of that famous commentary of the Tipperary club game? All heart, little substance. Has brightened my day considerably. Well done. Look forward to your next attempt.

It wasnt really well-spotted at all festinog. I did say it in one of the posts: ''Your not at the same game I am RLF'' - Present tense - implying I was there at the time.

Jays lads. This is some stir over nohin.. I spotted that RLF was trying this match-tracker thingy before the game and so, at half time I said id see what he was writing out of interest so I went on the phone. First, I saw that it wasnt being updated so I left the ''hahahaha'' message, then when I refreshed the page I saw the few comments he had left and left my next msg. Then when I got home I left the big analysis one. It didnt interfere with my match watching in the slightest as I can type at more than a word per minute and I was still able to absorb the whole experience of the day. Thanks for your concern mayoman, but I didnt miss a pass of the ball today and Id appreciate less jibe about my diligence to the action.

Its this interweb thing, its wonderful. Now Im going to watch the Sunday Game with the laptop (a portable personal computer) and maybe leave a few more comments on bits and bobs...Its mutli-tasking-The oul wan at Pilates told me all about it. Then Im gona make my favourite evening tea of sausages and waffles, watch the West Wing for a while and get an early night! Peace out Compton!!

That's some explaining!!! But a bit too much detail though so will ye just admit to not being there, I mean nobody else from laois made the trip!

Yours,

RALF (Real Assertive Louth Fan)

RALF conveys images of coolness like Ralph Fiennes. Also the A being slotted in between the R and the L demonstrates that I complete the gaps and make sense of what others may perceive as chaos. Or is it A for Assertive as I am forthright and uncompromising in my opinions. I have grown to like it and will adopt it as my pseudonym.

Just watched some good neutral analysis on the Sunday Game. Some issues other than what Ive mentioned before:

No way was that a penalty. The ref did right. If it was even a push it was outside the square. Lets just say, it wasnt a dive but the Louth fella knew what he was at going down in there as he hadnt a hope of scoring due to the angle. McEnaney could have been more gracious than to brandish unattributed quotes to ''Laois fellas'' who said it was a ''stone wall penalty''. Daft stuff.

The little stamp from your man on Mark Timmons was niggly and silly but it wasnt a big deal. Marks a hardy man and Im sure hell be arite. I thought at the time it was the way he fell that caused him to stay down but he was right as rain after a minute anyway. It was silly by the Louth man, but not malicious. Hope nothing comes of it cos it wasnt that type of game.

Good to hear the panellists give us some due credit for bulkin up our squad and to compliment some often unsung players like Kevin Meaney & Darren Rooney. I agree with them that we have good chance against our beloved Lily White neighbours, but weve an awful lot of work to do because although they werent convincing v. Wicklow, there a good, strong, well organised team! On the O'Moores!!

I know corkcelt it's pathetic really. He couldn't just come clean and leave someone to have a bit of crack. Anyway you'd think he'd be happy with the narrow win and wouldn't feel the need for the jabs, but then some people just can't take the justifiable criticism.
