Meath senior challenges

If the final score was Galway 2-19, Meath 1-14, does that not mean that we were beaten by 8points, not 5 as suggested in a previous post?

Ross

Ive kinda figured that out now at this stage. At the time of my original post I was working on second hand info about the game, hence the reason I was aking about the game to get more details.

But thankfully our new pro squid has cleared it all up for us.

Thanks Jinxie, as I know that you would have quickly brought me up to speed on similar matters involving Louth.

Also I'm quite certain that we will be able to help each other out many times once the championship gets up and running.

Really look forward to hearing from you then.

Thanks Squid! I know you meant well!
Lads if you ask a question and someone answers it for you, the common courtesy is to say "thank you". It was not his fault the scoreline is not a win!
(Unless you were playing for Galway squid???)

Anyway the worrying factor here is that we seem to be going down the same road as last year! Good forward play scoring plenty but poor defense letting in cricket scores! Hope we were missing some of the regular backs or this is worrying!! Even still if this was some of the non regular backs, we don't seem to have great cover!!
I thought we did well enough defensively in the league!! Maybe this is why it is important to play in Div 1 of the league!

Is it definatly on this friday? They could get another game in over the weekend too, maybe cork or tipp. It seems to be what teams are doing latley, getting a few games in when they have the panel together. Only problem would be the A Leagues on sunday.

Maybe sheepshooter can give us more info on it..

Definitely Friday, Jinxie. Haven't heard of any other challenges for the weekend but you're right, it would make sense to play another Munster team over the weekend. A bit strange that we have to travel all the way down to Killarney when Kerry could have come to a more neutral venue.

Well this will be a good marker as to where exactly the lads are at. Not aaying there at a level of beating them but it might help show how far they are behind or whatever.

i'd say the reason that we have to travel is because the likes of kerry can probably pick and choose who they want challenge matches off, they are probably calling all the shots. The same with galway last week, i'd say it was meath requesting a challenge off them, not the other way round. don't think there's many teams that would be coming to us looking for challenge game!

Maybe so rosscross, but it seems like every game is outside the county, & no offence ot either Lietrim or roscommon before that, but I doubt they would have been calling the shots. Maybe theres another reason for it, getting the lads outta their own familiar surroundings or what ever, take away any advantage theyd have or maybe just help bring the lads together & focused as a group by spending time away together as a panel.
Just a suggestion, could be way off the mark.

any1 know the score with meath and kerry last nite??

Meath lost to kerry last nite 1-16 to 1-14.kerry had 11 players that started last years all-ireland final playing and the other four (Paul Galvin, sean o sullivan, pauric reidy Not sure of the other fellas name) are regular household names anyway....

paddy o rourke
steven sheridan
moyles
harrington
mcguinness
mckeigue
kenny
ward
crawford
byrne
bray
shane mc
c ward
king
farrell

This is the team that started last nite,as u can see there were a few unusual names there...2 point defeat in Kerry after a 4 hour journey down there and against the strongest team in the country even thou we were possible missing one or two others...got to be good news even for all the negative people that post on this site....mayb they might apreciate the effort the lads put in and encourage them on instead of belittling them whenever they get the chance to....

Seems like a good run out,no point playing bad teams in these games, however a little concerned that we moved King back to Full Forward, anyone have a break down of the scorers? Plus if anyone could post the Kerry team it would be appreciated.
Where missing a lot of defenders though...

The only unusual name there is Stephen Sheridan and he's too light for county football.

Good to see Brian Farrell starting and building up some match practice against quality opposition. Maybe the injury isn't as bad as everyone thinks. We badly need him to be fit for Dublin and to take the place of Geraghty.
