You'll have to elaborate on "the state of football". Its a fairly braod question just to throw out there.

Mixed start to the league, but the talking will be done between may & sept/oct.

Blueroyal, bit of a srange question alright. If you mean what is the state of play in the Oldcastle area then no better way than finding out for yourself at the seven a side tournament this sat where Oldcastle, Moylagh, Brigids and Ballinlough will be in action, good chance for players to get up to championship intensity.

True Anders. Its the opening of the St Brigids Club house. That 7 aside starts from 2.00 on sat so hopefully they will get a good turnout for it. Should be a good bit of crac at it.

They regularly appear in underage finals, have a few players on meath minor teams of last few years so I don't think there going to badly, Jinxie is an Oldcastle man, maybe he could inform us somemore, but they have a new grounds now don't they? Hopefully the dressing rooms are slightly bigger than the other pitch though!!;) There doing pretty well in the league so it doesn't look too bad!

Yeah the new dressing rooms are much bigger alright. The new pitch is just outside the town. Replaced an existing pitch & finally starting to look the part now.

Started the league pretty well but a poor result last sunday.

Hard to know what way it will go in the championship, its a very though group & not having Tomas & Ronan Farrelly this year is a huge blow, but theres a handfull of young lads coming through, just think they might another couple of years at that level yet before they would be worrying other teams but hopefully theres a decent run in them.

Excuse my ignorance Jinxie. but where are Tomas & Ronan Farrelly, they were big players for you in recent years

Oldcastle seem to be going well in the league just have to see come Championship. Yes jinxie they did have afew representatives on minor teams there a thomas Rahil currently on it, patrick coakley and patrick gilsean in 2008 won leinster were on it last year i think and barry curren in 2006 when they won the leinster. Thomas and Ronan farrelly are a big loss to that Oldcastle team but i was at a league game in moynalvey where afew young lads did impress me, very much a fit type of team from half backs to half forwards. Certainly a team to keep an eye on

I was in Oldcastle not to long ago, they have a fantastic set up there. As far as I can remember they had a stand there aswell.

Ive been told on another topic that Oldcastle are a dirty team. Is this true?

They've had a bit of a disipline problem for years now & after losing men like the McEnroes and Gilsenans would have thought they'd have lost this.

Far from a Dirty team. The problem in football is that teams are givin those tags & they stick for life, even if it aint true. Like Meath for example, everyone loved accusing Meath of being dirty for years & it still goes on, but they arent a dirty team, the same of Oldcastle. Hard & Fair, yes. Dirty, definatly not.

Good win on Sunday. Is this a good sign for the rest of the championship?

Don't think Syddan are up to much but a championship win is always a good thing and will surely breed confidence into them. Feel they might get a last 8 spot but that will probably be as far as they will get I'd say, then again you would never know!

Oldcastle were a feared team years ago, 'MAN, BALL AND ALL' used to be their slogan! They got away with murder back then..

Thats a bit harsh rock...

Sure they played hard alrite, but never got away with murder. Football has changed alot & refs pull things nowadays that werent big issues back then.

My point is the difference between refs back then and todays referees..

Is that the Oldcastle pitch along the road near Millbrook, thats nearly half way to Castlepollard. That must be in the Moylagh area. Didnt Oldcastle used to have a pitch where they show the cattle and sheep near the Show Hall.
