Sorry Tim but Mark and Cian Ward are at the nearest second maybe third cousins.Francis and Paddy Ward certainly did not play for Sean Boylan, they are from the 1960s era.Francis gained a few runs with Meath and was a terrific club player.I do not think Paddy, now with Dunshaughlin ever payed county.Interestingly Mark Wards uncle Johnny Fagan was centre field for Meath in the 1966 All Ireland final with Down. Another uncle Jimmy Fagan was a substitute that day.The Fagan brothers played with the old Killallon club.Francis Ward has a son now involved with the Meath under 21s. opps you are right I was a few years out there. Patrick Ward did indeed play for Meath. He was captin of the 1967 Meath League team untill injury ruled him out and the captancy passed to Peter Darby. He remained part of the pannel untill the Ireland Semi final in 1967 and holds a Leinster Medal as they won Leinster that year. He also played in the O Byrne Cup final in Croker park 1967 against Dublin. If I am not mistaken he also played on the Meath Minor pannel.
